ATA drives are configured using Master and Slave settings if they're on the same HDD controller.
It sounds like your cursor stuttering is still present, even with your usb drive removed.
With your 3.2GHz setup, which setting is using 3.3 volts?
    Your Q6600 has a VID voltage range = 0.85V - 1.5V.
I really hope that you're not running your cpu at 3.3 volts!!
Post your current 3.2GHz bios settings and include a screen-shot with:
Memset using the SPD and ">>" tabs
    cpu-z main screen
EasyTune6 --> TUNER tab --> ADVANCE tab --> VOLTAGE tab

    Haha apologies, i meant 1.3v!

Think i need my morning cup of tea!

So does that mean the 2nd HD is setup right as slave? lol

Yeah it seems so but i'll try again to be sure next time i reboot.

The previous post of memset is what i have right now, except i pushed the voltage to 2.1 and it seems to have added some stability because as soon as i tried to lower it again because it didnt solve the stuttering the pc didn't like it, it hung on windows starting screen.

I'd go with a cup strong black coffee for stable overclock.

It's realy odd you need that high voltage for DDR-800, I'm qute sure I've seen these modules around running even at DDR-1066.
Maybe the other ram related voltages need some tweaking, but I'm not familiar with them.

That's the thing chike, i feel like i know what the main voltages should be but when it comes to reference, pll and others, i'm at a loss.

What you told me to do though worked, leaving references on auto made the system more stable.

The nature of auto means the BIOS will sometimes over-estimate, so i'm guessing in the past my settings were too low.

Maybe what's happening is, when my dram is at a higher voltage, the bios raises the reference and others itself to match the voltage which suits my ram better because i dont know what to set it at.

i'm really happy with the 3.2ghz thugh. I will need to buy a better cooling solution for the cpu though.

Power off your system and temporarily disconnect the 160GB Hitachi slave drive.
Re-boot and see if the cursor stuttering is still present.
Go into device manager and try enabling Write-Caching again.
Re-boot and see if Write-Caching remains enabled.

You can verify if the master and slave settings are correct for each hard drive. Next to the power and ide cable connections on each drive, there are jumper pins that will look similar to this:
    o o o o
    o o o o
There might be a diagram on each hard drive that shows the proper setup for the master or slave setting. If not, you should find a jumper diagram for each drive at the manufacturer's website. Verify that both drives are properly jumpered.
The usual setup is with the IDE master drive connected to the end of the IDE cable, and that the slave drive is connected to the middle cable connector.
Each hard drive will probably have a different jumper pin setup.
You might find that one or both drives are using the "cable slect" (CS) setting.

Check out this link for more information.

Well, strangely, my 2 hitachi deskstar HDs i took from ym dell PC DON'T HAVE a jumper!!!!

So i'm guessing dell took that option away for some reason. I'm going to disconnect the HD now anyway since i'm not strictly using it for anything right now.

Ok good news, i removed the 160 GB HD and now the device manager write-cache settings ahve stuck + the stuttering has been greatly reduced although still a slight stutter.

I *THINK* my DVD Drive is plugged into a slave connector too, i will have to have a look at the bios again, could this also cause a stutter? Should CD/DVD drives be on a master?

One device should be master and the other slave, not realy sure what all that means I usually had the HD master and the DVD/CD drive slave.

Your mobo has only 1 IDE connector, which means that that only 2 ide drives (HDD and/or optical) can be connected to your system at one time, unless you're using an add-on IDE controller card. SATA drives are not jumpered for Master or Slave settings, although your bios might list some drives as master or slave.
Are any of your drives using SATA mobo connectors?
