Default where does system/mb temp come from on ex58 boards?

I'm just wondering where is the system/mb temperature reading is taken from on the mb and what is a normal range and maximum safe for this temperature reading?

I know the mb uses the iTE IT8720F for the sensors but where is the temperature labeled as "system" or "motherboard" (same thing) being sensed from? For instance the "cpu" reading is the temperature of Tcase junction on the i7 chip and "northbridge" is the temp of the northbridge chip. Is the system/mb a reading of the voltage regulator temps? the southbridge? some other place? where? and what are normal safe reading for where this is being sensed from?

edit: or are you saying it is the temp of the IT8720 chip itself?

System/Motherboard temp is a sensor in the PCB Located near the IOH same as it is in past boards near the MCH

There is no normal range really, just depends on how hot all your other things are such as CPU and IOH, and how much air flow you have in your case. And ambient temps.

As for a safe max, not sure but it just is the actual PCB of the board so nothing could break, and I would imagine something else would die before this would reach any kind of a max.
