    Default DS5 X48 Q6600 to 3.0GHz+

    Hey there,

I've been wanting to overclock my Q6600 to 3.0+ for awhile but I just can't seem to get it to go there. I've used settings from other similar systems on this forum, but they just don't seem to work. So I'm making my own thread to see if anyone can get me overclocked.

The furthest I've got it to go was into the Welcome Screen, then it would get a BSOD before getting to the Desktop.

Are you getting the BSOD with these settings?
Set Performance Enhance to standard and leave timings on auto.
Try DDR2 OverVoltage +0.1v and MCH OverVoltage +0.1v.

Thanks for the reply. I don't get blue screens on my setup right now since it's pretty much on the default settings. And setting the RAM timings on auto, and upping the voltage didn't help. I think I need more detailed settings.

    Thanks though.

Please give us the full settings you are trying that fail when you try to overclock, then we can better advise you.

Almost to windows is normally voltages if you think everything else may be close enough, try more vcore and you may just get in

8GB of ram you are going to need to set 1.95-2.0V (+0.15-0.2) ram voltage, and MCH Voltage to +0.2-0.3

Well I took your advice and set my vcore to 1.31V and changed the RAM and MCH voltage to what you said and I got through 1st try, which is really odd.

I opened up CPU-Z when I got in and it's running at 3.0GHz, but I went over to the RAM tab, and it says DRAM is at 400MHz. In BIOS I made sure it stayed at 800MHz, but it bumped it down for some reason. I set it at 2.40B which said it would be at 800MHz. So whats going on?

Oh and all of the CPU Load/Stress Test programs seem to have left my head, so if someone could recommend a good one, that would be awesome.

    Thanks.

Nothing going on, it's all good, common confusion.
Memory clock speed is 400MHz, DDR(Double Data Rate) ram does 2 data transfers per clock cycle, therefore the 400MHz clock is DDR-800.
