    Default EX58-UD4P and Suspend

Is there any way how to convince this board to wake up from S3 state overclocked? Nothing extreme, BCLK is around 175MHz, but UD4P refuses to wake from S3 anywhere beyond regular clock.

My other problem is unusually long time to show POST screen after pressing power button. It takes something around 20-25s. Seen Asus P6T in my friends pc and EVGA Clasified in another machine, both are doing post much faster. There is nothing special in my system, just 6GB of corsair 1600 CL8 memory, 2 disks and NV 260. Is it regular behavior with gigabyte x58 boards or some problem in my pc?

have you tried updating to the latest bios version either from Gigabytes website or the latest beta version from here. If you have a older version then updating will fix this as it has been addressed in newer versions. Second thing would be are you 100% stable? Have you ran stability test like linx or prime95? which test and how long have they ran? If your not stable it wont resume from sleep or you will have issues resuming from sleep.

Please fill in your hardware specs like I have in your sig and Find a bios temp from the link in my sig and post back with your settings that you have in your bios if you are find out your not stable and someone more familiar with your board/setup will be able to give suggestions.

It was a bios issue when I discovered my first sleep issue and bios ver. F9 fixed it for me. Now I have a new sleep issue and I hope someone can help. The problem is now that my system wont go to sleep on it's own via power management options ex: 1 minute or 1 hour. It will sleep manually however and resume just fine, although it seems I use more ram when I resume from sleep (I don't know if this is normal or not). I use about 25%-28% of ram from a reboot and when I resume from sleep its about 33%-36%.

The problem started when I installed my sound card. A lot of trouble shooting and reinstalling fixed this issue. Sleep was working fine then. I then Installed PowerDVD9 ultra so I can play Blu-Ray. Now I have the same issue back again. PowerDVD9 ultra messed up my SuperAntiSpyware,SpyBotS&D and Avast!(would not function properly with run schedules) I don't know why this happened but I reinstalled all 3 and they're working fine now. The sleep issue still remains.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled all drivers and made sure they're updated. I could really use help with this issue because it driving me nuts. If you need bios info I'm more then happy to give you the info. Is their a way to copy the bios then past it or do I have to just fill out the form one line at a time? I have contacted Creative and Cyberlink and they were of no help. System is stable under memtest 200%+ and Intel burn test maximum setting stress test 10 runs.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Wlk, I think your resume from sleep problems will resolve when you update to the latest bios.
The time for post to start is normal as far as I can tell. I shut my system down ane turned it back on. It took 22s before post started.

Gokuboo, I think your problem is OS related. I would recommend trying to take your system back to an earlier restore poing - prior to PowerDVD9 - and see if that doesn't help. That sounds like a rather unfriendly app.

Thank you for the quick response. I have restored and everything works fine when I do. I really want the Blu-Ray player on my system. When I look at the Cyberlink forums I see no one else having this issue. I have it reinstalled and still trying to figure it out.

I thought it may be an OS issue but didn't just want to bash Vista by default. I'm wondering is their any fix or maybe Windows 7 will fix this issue?

I don't think it is an OS issue as a problem with Vista per se. I think it is damage to the os from a bad install, etc. That is why I think there is something to be gained from restoring to an earlier point in time when everything was working. Once you reach that point you may be able to successfully install the Blu-Ray software.
Windows 7, which I run and like very much might be a possible solution. It is what Vista should/ could have been. A reformat and install of a new OS (Win7) is swatting a fly with a baseball bat but would almost certainly work :).

@ wazza300 You are correct that I could try another media player but I have paid for this one. I also seem to have a bad habit of dumping one thing and getting another and having to deal with some sort of other issue. As far as dealing with their customer support... Let's just say the people on these forums have a higher understanding and a deeper well of knowledge. Yes I could get my money back but what a hassle that will be when I enjoy the features they provide and its all in one place. On a side note I purchased the software after doing research and not finding these issues posted anywhere and thought it would be as easy as pie...silly me.

@ genec57 That's good to hear as I've pre-ordered Win7. I'll keep trying to work this issue and maybe be able to help someone else if I can find a fix. It really is a pain. Everything I do affects something else from installing fans, psu and especially software. I really can't wait for Windows 7.

wazza300 man do I feel your pain. I have done the uninstall/reinstall of the OS countless times myself and I'm sick of it. Which is why I'm now running Raid 1 and have an external HDD, can you say paranoid? I do thank you very much for the quick fix suggestion. If I came off as not appreciating your input I apologize that was not my intent at all.
