    Default GA-EP45-UD3L : PWR_Fan Header question

Just ordered this board (bye-bye Intel)

Anyways...Can you plug a regular intake/fan on the PWR_FAN header?

    Just wanted to be sure.

    Thanks!

I have a PWM fan connected to the PWR_FAN which has only 3 pins on my board, fan seems to operate at full speed, no problem so far.

Got a great deal from buy.com's ebay site + Bing.

board came out to about $80

Finally got everything installed, update BIOS, and re-installed Intel drivers.

Board has been great. Stable thus far. Boot is faster than my old Intel P35 board, and I finally have some relative control of my fans. (i.e. I can run them at 100% RPM) Gaming has been great also, my GTX 275 has had no problems.

Very happy with this board thus far.

    Just some minor points.

    * the PCI-E slot is too close to the SATA ports. If you have a larger card like mine, the SATA cables hang over the GPU fan. 1 less PCI-X slot above the GPU slot may have been better, and you could move the GPU slot further up.

*the northbridge is hot! way hotter than my old P35, and that had a crappy Intel HS.

I think I'll be ordering Gigabyte again for my i5 build. very happy with build & quality of this board!

buy.com has a ebay site? Link please, I hate their store because of shipping times but like their prices sometimes

Do they ship promptly on ebay?

Glad to hear everything went well with the build!

Yes, P45 is a bit hotter than P35 but should not be to much hotter

    yes they have a store.

eBay Store - Buy's Internet Superstore: Computers, Electronics, Digital Cameras

very good prices. most of the time, same or lower price than their regular store, and almost always free shipping.

The receipt I got for the mobo, was buy.com (no indication of ebay)

I've bought from them through ebay about 5 times. shipping has been fast. but then again, the wharehouse is in Cali and I'm in Vegas. (2-3 days for free shipping)

    Good Luck!
