    Default Trying to break 390FSB wall on EP45-DS3R

    The subject says it all. For whatever reason I can not seem to break 390FSB. 395, 399, 400 and 401 all lock up...they boot, but lock under IBT.

    390FSB is stable with 50 passes of IBT and 1 hour of OCCT Linpack test. I tried a jump to 410 and 420 thinking maybe a hole, but no luck. any ideas?

    My specs:
    Q6600 G0 VID=1.325
    GA-EP45DS3R v1.0 (Bios F11c)
    4GB (2x2GB) A-Data Vitesta 800+ (1000MHz stable @ 2.2V)
    Corsair 450W PSU with 8-pin
    Antec 300 case with 140mm on top, 120mm in the back
    TRUE with 120mm pushing (back case fan is like 1/2in away so it is "like" pulling

    Try the suggestions I have made in red. What is the stock VID for your chip? I never owned one of these chips but 1.375 sorta sounds high to me if your using 6x400. It should be able to do 9x400 or what ever the max multi is on it. Do you have LLC on try turning that on if voltage is drooping to low.

    Your Q6600 is rated at 2.40GHz (9x266) and you should be able to run at the stock cpu VID with your settings.

    Acebmxer's recommendations are good. A few memory modules will only work with MCH Core = 1.05 volts, but this isn't very common.

    You might need to try (G)MCH Frequency Latch = 333.

    Did you load OPTIMIZED bios settings before making any bios changes.

    Please include the model # of your ram and a link to rated specs for your memory.
    It will help us if you add your full hardware list to your forum signature, this will cut down on possible errors.

    Set 1066 driving strength and set tRD (Static tRead value) to 9 for now and then you should not be hitting any walls

    Ref voltages put in Auto for now, and use More Vtt (1.32-1.5)

    I would also go back to your max CPU multi, the 6 may be giving you issues more than it is helping

    Tried all of those things. Multiplier at 7 and 8...9 would be a pipe dream with that much FSB. Nothing....can't break 395.

    I currently have it at 356x9 for 3.2GHz. I can boot into Windows fine...I even ran IBT for 5 passes and it worked fine. Then I ran IBT for 20 passes and failed on the 17th pass. I understand that a lot of people are stopping at 3.0GHz with the Q6600, but comon...I am putting in the time and effort to work out every single voltage and spend days testings instead of using this computer like any other human being. Why can't I break 3GHZ?!? Why won't the FSB respond to the higher voltages...I am even pushing on some suicide run with 1.6+vcores to get 3.2 to run stable AND nothing...NOTHING seems to make this machine stable above 3GHz.

    I am getting close to giving my wife this chip and going up to my final Q9550 chip that will ride me out for another few years.

    You have posted abbreviated bios settings in your posts.
    Use one of the two EP45 bios templates from here (post #2 or #3) and fill in your settings in your next post.
    There are some non-MIT settings (in the template) that can cause overclocking issues if they are not set properly.

    I can tell you that the Q6600 proc with a 1.325 vid needs more voltage to overclock than their lower vid counterparts. I am currently running at 8x413 with a 1.51875 core voltage. I say crank the voltage up, provided you have good cooling & keep an eye on your temps.
