OK, all BIOS ECC options look exactly the same in both versions I downloaded (FB & FD From .ru links). No hidden options, all settings on each version match and are selectable by the end user, most notably Hybrid is available and selectable in both BIOS >>>

So maybe did you get FD from somewhere else, or a older one? Try it again from .ru FTP and be sure to Disable Keep DMI Data on flash

Good work! Actually, I downloaded all my bios from the gigabyte site.
You might have a good point about DMI Data, because I always kept it.
Perhaps not keeping it would be the answer? However, bear in mind that
when I went from FD to FB, I kept DMI yet hybrid showed up in FB, so, I dunno really.

I don't see hybrid on your screenshots though. When I had version FD, it had
EC Firmware selection, and I think it might have said normal, but there wasn't any hybrid.

Hybrid is there and selectable in both BIOS, it is in the top two windows

They also both have ECC Firmware as well, which is the normal/hybrid option

Not keeping DMI may be the answer, but they both have that option so not sure it would matter. I always suggest disabling this anyway because DMI data should not be carried over between versions

Heh, sorry about that, I didn't see where the hybrid was before because it's kind of camouflagged against the background, and my eyes aren't so good, I haven't been to bed, lol.

Ah well then, it does seem to be there! The only answer I can think of then is to not keep DMI. Because hybrid definitely, definitely wasn't there when I had it and it showed up immediatey in FB. So, I'll give it another go.

Sorry, those colors are kind ugly and hard to see with, I will change that so next time I check something for someone it will be easier to see

Ya try that (Be sure to load optimized after the flash as well), and then if you don't see it try Control + F1 on the main page then go check again.

It should for sure be there, I mean if those were set to disabled/non selectable then you would not be able to see or change things, but they are all set to enabled and selectable

Yep. Btw, I misunderstood what you said earlier about downloading from .ru ftp, I thought you meant some random russian site with the bios files. Then I realised
you meant the russian ftp from the gigabyte site. DOH! So I've downloaded that and unzipped it and about to stick it on the floppy disc. Will let you know how I get on.

Yes, sorry for not better explaining that!

Good luck with the flash, may the overclock force be with you!

I had second thoughts about doing a 5th flash, even though you said do it as many times as I like. Well, I did it and...

So thanks for your help Lsdmeasap, you were brilliant! I forgot to clear DMI, yet hybrid showed up and I didn't have to do ctrl +F1 either. It's really weird why hybrid didn't show up the first time I went to this version.

Oh and it's added something called CIE, which I've someone mentioned to me the other day but I can't remember what it does.
