    Default EP45-UD3R OCZ2RPR10664GK memory (finally) stable. Now 8400 OC'd to 3.6. Need Review.

    Lsdmeasap you have been a great help to me with your postings to people that have had problems with the EP45-UD3R Motherboard and the OCZ2RPR10664GK memory!

    Here's my configuration:

    E8400 3.0GHz
    EP45-UD3R Motherboard
    OCZ2RPR10664GK OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
    MSI N260GTX-T2D896 OC GeForce GTX 260 896MB
    XP SP2
    F11 Bios

    Problem:
    System would freeze at odd times, might run all day and stop in middle of night. Might freeze 5 minutes after booting. Might happen in middle of a game under heavy stress. Intelburntest, memtests, 3DMark all were fine. Ran memtests multiple times, different days, one stick, both sticks, didn't matter, tried different slots. Machine never had a problem booting - would just freeze. Sometimes 4 or 5 times a day. Sometimes worked fine all day. This was a new build in January, had these problems since though not as frequently to start. Thought it was my video card for too long. Thought it was a bad board. I wasn't trying to OC, all standard settings, latest bios and drivers on everything.

    Turned out it was the memory timings weren't quite right.

    After reading numerous posts about other people's problems with memory timings in this forum, I was able to try some of the recommendations and found a set that worked. (thanks Lsdmeasap!)

    I'm posting a set below that shows my settings. Since then I have worked to OC to 3.6 based on Outer Marker's post of a similar system. I have those changes in red.

    Hope this might help others that are having similar problems.

    Let me know if anyone sees any adjustments that would be helpful.

    I would recommend you try working on these adjustments >>>

    tRRD...................................: Auto <=== for OC settings chgd to 4 << 3 should be fine for sure
    tWTR...................................: Auto <=== for OC settings chgd to 4 << 3 should be fine
    tWR....................................: Auto <=== for OC settings chgd to 6 << 4-5 may work
    tRFC...................................: 54 << 48-52 may be fine
    tRTP...................................: Auto <=== for OC settings chgd to 4 << 3 should be fine
    Command Rate (CMD) ............: 2 << Try 1 last, if it boots it works. Programs will still read two though due to the way Intel made some things.


    Channel A & B
    Static tRead Value........................: [Auto] <<< Set 8-9, 8 may not work with 2.66D/400 FSB

    CPU Termination.........1.200V.........: [Auto] ......... 1.200V << May be fine, but to bring MCH Down I would raise this a little for starters. Maybe 1.225-1.25
