no 1T, why would you want to run with 2T if you can get it to run with 1T? yes the ram can easily run at 9 9 9 24 1T at 1.5V

also if your hitting 90+ with linpack it's not because your using 1.6v vs 1.5v with your ram, try reseating your heatsink.

i'll try reseating it next week... cuz i got some Scythe S-flex case fans coming in too (i want more cooling, but i want it to stay relatively quiet too).

the thing is... i thought 90 degrees was normal with the Intel stock cooler!

you wanna replace the intel cooler asap as its not very good, true, noctua or akasa nero are all good coolers

yeah but if your at stock clock speeds 90 is still way to high even for the stock cooler. I installed the stock because I was waiting on my noctua and 90C+ is not normal. When installing it I noticed when wiggling it around it seemed loose, further investigation showed that for one of the corners the pushpin wasn't pushed all the way and properly latched, this might be your case. Also are you sure the fan on the cooler is spinning when you start it up. If it is installed correctly then you might not have enough air circulation in your case, to see if this is the cause try checking your temps under load with the side door off, if they are clearly better then air circulation in the case is an issue.

I checked and double-checked my cpu cooler installation. it appears to be installed perfectly; the pins have gone through properly (I can see them on the other side of my motherboard) and the heatsink is not wobbly at all, it is very stable and unmovable.

with my side panel off and facing my room, after 10 minutes of prime95 8-thread torture test (small fft), realtemp 3.30 reports 80/77/77/77. (distance to TJmax: 20/23/23/23)
this is at stock speed, all stock voltage settings.

i guess it's possible that the TIM on the bottom of my heatsink is not contacting properly with the CPU? i guess i really should try re-seating it.
but first i am going to order some Arctic Silver, if i take my cooler off at the very least i should wipe off the TIM and replace it with some good stuff.

BTW, there is no performance hit with the features like EIST, C1E, etc. right? if the CPU is smart enough to run at full speed when you hit 100% cpu usage there shouldn't be any performance penalty using those features?

Yes, but did you twist the pins after you pushed them through?

Get TX-2 or MX-2, way better than Arctic Silver 5

Ya, no performance hit at full load, but your system can be noticeably slower at idle/normal use

you can turn them 90 degrees first, before you fit it ...its like pull twist so they click then when you come to fit the heatsink just push down firm till it clicks into the motherboard hole no need to twist it later......if you think the stock coolers hard to fit try fitting an akasa nero its got push pins too....but worth the hassle
