Default Why are my core temps lower than cpu temps?

I've never really had a satisfactory answer to this on all the boards I've posted on. My core temp is LOWER than my cpu temp in bios and easytune. On idle it is
30c core and 46c cpu, and load 44c core and 58c cpu.

Everyone I speak to says it's wrong, they have core HIGHER than cpu. A few people I've spoken to also have lower core than cpu but we seem to be a minority. Someone who owns the rev 1.0 of my motherboard doesn't really trust his temp readings. I posted on the official gigabyte forum and someone who seems to work for gigabyte told me there are no known issues with temp sensors.

So can anyone tell me why my core temp is always lower than cpu temp?

Are you using the Latest BIOS, and the Latest Easytune? I would suspect it is a incorrect reading if you are not using the latest of both mentioned

Could just be your CPU itself, but yes most of the time 99% the cores are hotter than the CPU temp

Yes, latest bios FD and I've tried them all. Oh, you don't remember me? I'm the one you kindly went to a lot of trouble to analyse if the latest bios has the hybrid mode, and we discovered it does. Yea?

Ya, I remember helping you now that you mention that!

Could just be your CPU then, does Everest Ultimate show the same thing?

It might be a Nvidia chipset thing.
My N650SLI-DS4 reports a 15 degree (C) difference between Cpu temp and Cpu Core temps, where the Cpu temp is lower, but my Cpu Temp is only 1 or 2 degrees higher than my ambient room temperature. My System temp reading appears to be reasonable.
I ignore my Cpu temp on this system.

I don't have an nvidia chipset.

Well according to AMD, max operating temp for my chip is 70c, and they say it's for the CPU temp, not the core. Yeah, everest shows the same temps, but in a different order, but everest doesn't support my motherboard. It shows the 46c as motherboard temp and it shows 79c as cpu temp. but I have discovered that 79c is a false sensor reading, it is a bug that some other people have with this motherboard. The only program I trust is HWMonitor. Also, the program Coretmp shows core temperature as 30c. I find the whole thing confusing. not only is my core temp lower when it should be higher, but I also don't really know if it's the cpu temp that should not go above 70c, or the core temp, noone seems to really know. On the AMD forum, they said it's the cpu temp that should not go over 70c, but I still don't know if that's 100% correct.

46C sounds correct for your motherboard temps. Everest should support your board, do you have the latest Beta?

I would suspect they mean CPU temp of 70c, because once that is 70 your cores would be MUCH More.

I have noticed with my setup but never worried about b/c like LSD said core temp is the one to look at and should be higher then the cpu temp. My system is water cooled and I have a water temp sensor about 1 inch before and after the cpu and and the max I have seen my water temp get is 30c with my vid card in loop after cpu with room temp at about 24c. When I push my system when running LinX Ill get core temps to about 80c but HWMonitor will show CPU temp at like 90-91 with Intel max is 71.4 and I have reseated the waterblock multiple times and rotated 90 deg and never made a difference
