    Default OC problem with DDR3 in EP45T-UD3P

    First of all, Hi there!

    My problem is since I had to change previous MB. It was a fabulous P35-DQ6, but my graphic card crashed (XFX8800GTX, no OC) and since that made it malfunction :( . Over that MB I had my E6600 in OC without problem, not an extreme OC, but since I read the higuest OC possible without changing Voltages, and even with default cooler (but I got a Gigabyte cooler also), and it was true, I had to change nothing but FSB.

    Then with the change was a problem, the guy where I bought new MB failed and brought me an EP45T model instead EP45 I wanted, but finally I get it thinking that it's the future and the guy gave it me at same price (although I know right now you don't get performance from DDR3). And now comes the problem. MB runs OK, but when I tryed to OC in the same way I used to have my E6600 it doesn't work properly. After some tweaks and test I finally think it is a problem of DDR3 adequate tweak, and although I had to correct voltages for processor that I don't need before with P35, it works fine right now, but I'm not sure completely, and don't know ho to tweak DDR3 more than I tryed.

    Here are my settings and components...

    E6600@2,4GHz-------------->FSB 1464 3.3GHz
    BIOS Vcore setting 1.3750v-->CPU-Z iddle-1.328v Full load-1.312v-1.298v
    Other voltages setting AUTO (I tryed normal, but crashes)
    CPU EIST and C1E disabled while OC not stable

    Mem 4x2Gb ocz3n1800sr4gk @1800MHz 8-8-8-27 1.9v
    BIOS settings 1464MHz 4.00D
    MCH 400MHz
    Latency 9-9-9-27 (Auto SPD made it 10-10-10-22)
    Voltage BIOS setting 1.680v-----> CPU-ID 1.65v

    Other values are Auto and default ones.


    Whith that I run Orthos for stressing CPU and runs OK, but if stress memory it finally gets an error. I tryed 8-8-8-24, 9-9-9-24, AUTO 10-10-10-22 and finally 9-9-9-27 settings and all of them gave an error, first with 1.612v for memory (same Auto setting gave), then I changed to 1.65 because I see other OCZ modules running at 1600MHz and 1.65v, it bettered time until error, better timings were 9-9-9-27, but finally it occurs at 50-56 minutes runing.

    I read some things about MCH voltages also, but as I can not monitor it with any program I know it scares me a bit touch without know the real voltages. May be somebody helps me to run it stable.

    With 8GB you may need to keep the ram underclocked to 1600 or so. Can you please link us to your memory and then follow the link in my signature for a template and give us your full exact BIOS settings that are failing and we can advise back

    This is how are running right now, as I said I try with other settings (latency for memories) and also make the error, it is working aparently without problems, but the error is there when stress, and I suffered a pair of freezes. The settings above are as appear in BIOS, but real monitoring in CPU-z and CPU-ID appear like first post.

    Please load and apply optimized defaults, you are starting with FAIL SAFE ones and that can set many hidden settings incorrectly.

    After you do that, try your settings again then post back and let me know the new ones and I will advise. DO NOT Set Clock Drives to 700/700 again after you are done, but do try the rest of what you have, then I will advise back if you have issues. Your problems could be all because you are using fail safe settings

    However I would also make these adjustments for 8GB and your overclock >>>

    DO NOT Set Clock Drives to 700/700 again after you are done
    I didn't set that manually, that is (auto) setting, but I said because is different from your template. Same for the advanced mem timings.

    I know you did not set it, that is how I could tell you were using Fail Safe Settings instead of Optimized defaults to start with. I was only saying that to you again so you did not change them back to 700/700 after loading optimized defaults.

    Hmmmm, OK I understand, really don't know why FAIL SAFE settings were loaded in BIOS... Thank you.

    Did you try 2.00B? If not please do
    Only B option after setting 366MHz FSB is 4.00B, will try that.

    I have that inside "Advanced Timing Control", and then inside "Channel A" and B. They are a lot of values, first of all "Driving Streng" but only possibility is auto, should I hand set all the below values to maximum (it is +8 for all)?

    CPU stress works OK yet, but mem stress continue giving an error now at minute 10.

    Will try some of the tweaks you sugested first, and come back.
