Thread: Virtualisation enabling in GA-31-S2L

  1. #1

    Default Virtualisation enabling in GA-G31M-S2L

    Motherboard GA-G31M-S2L

    CPU E2180 (Core 2 Duo)

    Ram PQI 4GB

I am trying to enable the virtualization feature in this board. I tried pressing ctrl + f1 but that gives me more entries/menus but not the virtualization one.

CPUZ program tells me that my CPU has EM64T feature.

Please tell me if my CPU+MB combo can do that?

    Answer is no.

I found it using this tool

Your board and CPU both have virtualization, are you using the latest BIOS? So YES you can use virtulization

Or is this spam for your product?

Well GRC said no and so did Intel site.

BTW GRC is as respected as your company and I don't have any personal/professional links with it. Also the product is free.

    Intel Virtualization Technology
    IntelŪ PentiumŪ Processor - Specifications

E2180 is a Dual Core Series not a Core 2 Duo. It doesn't use Virtualization Technology

    Thanks reggie!

I guess I will update it in a few months. Though I must say that till this moment I thought that I had a Core 2 Duo CPU. Intel has made it pretty confusing. Even the moderators get confused now.

    Yes, sorry about that!

I was asleep when I replied and I think I was thinking EM64T was virtualization. Sleeping on the job! Sorry again!

That means you can run x64, just not virtually! Your board however does support it as I did check your BIOS before replying yestserday
