    Smile E8500 @ 4.2Ghz EP45-DS3P

    Hi, Ive overclocked my E8500 to 4.2ghz and just wondering if i need to change any Volts or setting in my bios..

    Ive stressed it and everything and its stable =], But the temp reaches 66degrees..Should i decrease the volts? the Max temp for the E8500 is 72.2 degrees or somethign acording to the Intel site ( Due to safety reasons i would imagine)..If i leave it on These settigns how long would you recon my cpu will live for?

    Im new to overclocking btw.

    My Specs for my comp are:

    Intel Core 2 duo E8500 @ 4.2GHZ
    MSI gtx280 *Stock
    4GB kit DDR2 800MHz @ 5-5-5-15
    640GB Western digital Green
    250GB samsung
    CoolerMaster Stacker 830 SE + 2 Extra fans
    Noctua U12P With 2 Fans
    Corsair HX-620 POWER supply

    Im just wondering about my fans..for my case if they are set right..
    Ive got 1 at the top of my case that is blowing out.
    Cpu Cooler 1 is blowing in and the other one is blowing out..
    My Exhaust ( Back case is blowing in for some reason..i think..i cannot feel any air coming out of it..) Should it be switched ? I never changed the position of the fan..was there when i got it..

    Set the CPU Termination and CPU PLL to 1.2V and 1.5V Auto increases them too much when overclocking which is not good for the CPU and most of the time unnecessary. If the system becomes usntable after this try increasing both by 0.05V.
    Other settings look fine.

    Definitely do as Nickel020 says.

    Post a screenshot that displays:
    Memset using the SPD and ">>" tabs
    cpu-z CPU and Mainboard screens (several instances can be run at the same time)
    EasyTune6 --> TUNER tab --> ADVANCE tab --> VOLTAGE tab (only the Voltage tab is needed)

    This will tell us what voltage and memory AUTO settings are being used.
    With this information we will be able to suggest some memory tweaks for better performance.

    What is your memory's brand/model #?
    Please include a link to your memory's full specifications.

    The ram im using is not kingston ( I thought it was..) Its G.skill i took a picture of it..

    I just Changed the Volts for CPU Termination and CPU PLL to 1.2V and 1.5V. And lowered the Cpu Voltage a little..Did 25 test on Intel Burn test Nothing crashed all successful

    Static tRead value is set very high with quto (> 15) try lower value for both channels, begin with 9 and try lower.
    In most cases it will either won't boot or otherwise work, so try untill it boot loop or multiple boot and then raise it one level up.
    Is DRAM Voltage still on auto or is it set manually?

    Do it in BIOS, jeep decreasing it until no boot, than back up one level

    Your MCH Core = 1.30 is too high.
    After you've set the tRead values for both memory channels, lower the MCH Core setting and re-test for stability. You will have boot or stability problems if MCH Core is set too low or too high. The optimal setting will probably be in the 1.20 - 1.24 volt range, lower is better.

    Exhaust Fan:
    Take 1 single piece of tissue paper and lower it over the rear of the exhaust fan to tell if the fan is blowing out. My CM-690 rear case fan feels like it isn't exhausting air (with my side case cover removed) but the tissue test proves that it is.

    ** edit ** 2.00B setting: Don't try this until your system is stable with lowered Static tRead Values and lowered MCH Core.
    Making too many changes at one time makes it much harder to determine the cause of any instability.
