Awsome info again, I think I have a good plan for my next OC now thanx

You say to run small FFT test, when is it necessary to use that over the Large FFT test; i.e. which test is used for what application?

Just run blend, 8.5 X 400 = 3400 MHz. Leave the rest the same for now...

Small in-place FFT stress the CPU and gardly if ever the memory, since all it's data fits in the CPU cache.
Large in-place FFT stress both memory and CPU but only a small portion of the memory is used.
The non in-place blend combines the two above with even larger FFTs but attempt to use different portions(addresses) of the memory during the stress.

Yeah, I'm with Conners, skip the 3.2GHz or you never gonna get to 500FSB

Couple quick questions if ya dont mind

~ What is this "VID" voltage I keep seeing people talking about and what is it used for or in reference to?

~When OCing what is the use of raising or lowering CPU PLL and what is PLL exactly for?

~When OCing what is the use of raising or lowering CPU termination ,(vtt), and what is vtt exactly for?

Just wondering when in the OC process I would want to mess with these settings and why its important to do so?

thanx again guys, sry for all the technical questions

    1. VID. "Voltage I.D."? I dont know but thats the Stock voltage the cpu should require to run stable at default clocks. Low VID's tend to O.C. either higher then higher VID's or achieve the same O.C at less volts. The VID of your chip will be the value you see in the left column in the bios for cpu voltage. Or in Real Temp or Coretemp. Mine chips VID is 1.225 the down side of having a lower VID chips is they tend to run hotter then higher VID chips.

    2. CPU PLL is for the clock generator i believe. My cpu doesnt need anything more then 1.57-1.61 all the way up to 4.3-4.4 ghz. Max is 1.61-1.63 This I hear will blow your chip.

    3. CPU Termination aka VTT. Helps stabilize the FSB while O.Cing. The other guys can give you a better definition.

How's your STPT (Super Turd Polished Transformer) case?
VID is the "standard" voltage for your particular processor, CoreTemp displays the Cpu VID.
CPU PLL and VTT? google is your friend, use it**
How's the TP (Turd Polishing? Toilet Paper?) coming along?

**just kidding.....kind of.....If you look closely in Conners (and other) threads, these items are briefly discussed. Lsdme's overclocking guides deal with many of the o/c terms.

The WD 1TB HDD is fine, just like my WD 640GB drive, only it has 50% more capacity.
Someone on the list is case modding his Rocketfish computer case.....boy oh boy is it plain looking, kind of like my CM690 case.

RocketFish Mod in progress here! Plan to redo that section I told you about in PM, sanded today and plan to try again once more. After that finish paint and cutting acrylic and I will be ready to rivet it back together

Won't be plain anymore!! They are HUGE Cases! I can create a large living room inside and invite my family into my case to watch TV :)
