Thanx guys for all your input

Core 0 is the highest of them all?
Maybe some memory tweaking will Improve your GFlops. Results depend on amount of memory also and you are limited to 2GB for 4 cores.
Ya Chike, Core 0 was the highest at 66c, but my CPU temp was dancing between 69c-72c; Is that ok for the CPU temp to read higher than the highest Core temp?

Here is my whole latest BIOS settings for 3.4Ghz and Screenshot of all the goodie programs at the end

No, CPU temp should be 5-10c less than core temps, either a problem with either of the sensors or the program that read them, unless there's a defect in the processor.

Did you try using tRD 7, B strap maybe?

Crap, hope my processor is ok, that is what it read in IBT but in Prime95 Blend highest core 0 is 66c and CPU temp is at 62c... so idk, Ill try different tRD of 7. I never had that wierd temp reading before anytime I have ran a test; The cpu was always cooler, maybe ill run the test again too. thanx again guys!

OK finally got the screenshot guys~

I think Q9550 si awesome processor, 3.4 and you still on all stock settings.
You mean same core temps for IBT and Prime95? This is not right, which software did you use to read both?

Ya I have only had to up the FSB and change CPU multi and memory multi to 2.66D strap, other than that I entered stock values for CPU vcore, pll and vtt which is astonishing.

And no, my temps where different on IBT and Prime95. On IBT I was getting 66c max on core 0 and 69-72c (pegged 73c a few times) on CPU temp. On Prime95 Blend test, I was getting 63c max on core 0 and 65c max for CPU temp.

OCed at 3.4ghz my idle temps are core 0 highest at 39c and CPU idles at 31c.

Update: So I ran IBT at 3.2ghz and my max core 0 temp was 63c and max CPU temp was 64c, then, I dropped down to 3.0ghz and ran IBT again and it was neck n' neck core 0 and CPU temps where both max at 61c; I also watched the real time temps and most all the time the Core 0 temp stayed 2-3c warmer than the CPU. So in turn... idk what is going on exactly with the temps CPU vs. Core 0, ET6 also shows same higher cpu temp than core temp when running IBT or Prime95, I just hope my processor is ok

Also, would changing tRD to 7 help improve temps?

thanx again guys for input ^^

Nah, it will inprove memory bandwidth and latency.

Without calibration there's no way to tell which of the reading is right, could be that it's the diode that needs calibration.

Prime95 vs IBT temperatures, IBT is typically 8 - 12 (C) higher, if IBT is run with Threads = 2 (duals) or 4 (quads). With Threads = Auto, elapsed times are higher, GFlops are lower, and temperatures are lower. As Chike said, the CPU temps are generally lower than Vcore temps, usually by 5 - 10 degrees or more.

Conners upgraded his cpu heatsink during his overclocking folly....uh, make that odyssey. When he upgraded to the CoolerMaster V8 (yep, he likes bling) he reported a substantial temperature drop. He will have to tell you how high his temps were and his FSB speed when he made the switch.

Psycho's heatsink recommendations are for top tier units that are really needed when you're overclocking your quad at the highest levels. Along with my new WD hdd, I got a new cpu and Freezer 7 Pro (rev 2) heatsink. It is a quality setup with a 92mm fluid bearing fan (45 CFM) included. It's relatively small, well made and fits most Intel and AMD mobo's, including all the newest versions. It should be an excellent setup for high overclocks with lower cpu thermal TDP ratings. Its rated cooling capacity is 130 watts, but I doubt that it will qualify as a top tier cooler with higher TDP setups.
Major potential drawback will be in trying to add a 2nd heatsink fan for a push-pull setup.

I plan to o/c above 4.40GHz (yes I'm a dreamer) with "reasonable" voltage settings.

Minor nit-pick, also include the cpuz Mainboard screen in your screen-shot posts.

Well I would get another new HS, but I just bought this one and it was 60 bucks and I cant return it now, its past 30 days (I got it before I knew I was gonna get a better case, otherwise I would probly get like a CM V8 or something). I would rather use it for awhile cause I can't really afford to get another new HS right now, so I'll just have to make do with this one for now

So as far as my cpu temp being higher than my core temps when I raise the clock speed, do I have to worry that my processor is ok? Should I run my OC at like 3.2ghz where there is only a 2c difference in cpu temp to core temp, (IBT 61c core 0, 63c cpu temp)? Or do you think the temp sensor for my cpu is off?

thanx for reply's guys, I'm just being a bit obsessive about my readings and want everything to be perfect

Oh, and here is the screenie of cpuz mainboard~

You only need to worry about Core temps at load, that is all. The rest you can safely ignore :)

Cool Lsd, than for the reassurance

So maybe I can run it at 3.4ghz, since the only time I will see cpu hit 70c is with IBT and my core temps at 3.4ghz stay at highest 66c when running IBT.

    thanx again man
