Ok guys, so I just got done with runnin Prime95 Blend test for 20 hours and 0 errors at 3.61Ghz. FSB=425, cpu multi=8.5x and memory multi=2.40B. Good news is my cpu temp max was 64c and highest core 0 temp was 62c.

As I said in my previous post, IBT was the one that scared me cause my cpu temp got up to 76c max stress 4 threads, and my core 0 was only 66c. I did notice my GFlops increase by almost 2 and my loop times went down about 6 seconds.

    So I am wondering~

-Is it safe to keep this OC and run it all the time even with cpu temp max at 76c in IBT?

-Is the difference between my 3.4ghz OC and 3.61ghz OC gonna make a huge difference in my gaming? Cause I did have to drop the memory to 1020mhz to obtain the 3.61ghz. And, I have noticed in this latest OC, that stuff seems a bit sluggish or stuff kinda "sticks"; Like it wont open a program immediately like my 3.4ghz OC. So I wonder if some tuning is needed in timings and such?

What do you guys think? thanx for input

I Say yes and go further. Cpu temp being displayed is not accurate / correct. That sensor (guys correct me if im wrong) is in the cpu socket and/or near the socket. Intel stats 71.4 is max cpu temp. This temp is taken at the absolute center of the cpu at the IHS. So to measure this you would need something in between the cpu and your hsf. This is why people go by core temps because the heat from the cores has to travel through the ihs and how can it get hotter then the cores if they are making the heat. I have seen my Cpu temp in Hardware monitor reach 100c but i was pushing close to 4.5ghz and core temps were around 93c i think under water. So in thery cpu temp shouldn't hit max untill core temps = 100c or dist to Tjmax = 0 as the cpu should throttle is self down (with bios settings enabled) to prevent overheating/ damaging it self.

I say push that thing to 8.5x450 should be fine for daily use depending on core temps.

Thanx for info Ace Well I just ran 3DMark06 again and my 3.61ghz OC only gave me 200 more points on my score, as the other times I went up from 3ghz to 3.2 to 3.4ghz, I was gaining about 600 points each time I went up in my OC; So I may have hit that diminishing point where my gain in OC is not benefiting my gaming performance

Do you game Ace? And if you do what do you play?

Not sure what area's, if any, I could tweak to make my 3.61ghz OC be more beneficial for gaming?

I ment to post about that. Some over clock I noticed also seam to not act as they should so to say as you have noted in your last post. With my cpu bench mark scores tend to increase with my overclock to a point like you noticed. In game my opinion with your setup you should only need 3.4-3.6 to make your video card happy. with my gtx 280 I could gain about 10-15 fps give or take from 3.0-3.6. Each cpu will have its own sweet spot. The few games I play are Grid Race driver, NFS shift, Call of Duty World at War. But one thing I have found out but took a while was; I was messing around with Stable Overclocks (Which I thought were stable) NFS Shift was giving me problems. For example at 3.6 The game would start to load but then just hang. All other games work fine and passes LinX and prime but I switch to 4.05 and the game works fine. I even reinstall Windows and the game thinking something got Fed up.

Ah I see Ace, thanx for reply, I usually play COD:WaW and I should check out my fps in game with it OC at 3.4ghz and 3.61ghz, then see if the extra OC is worth it.

As I stated before, with my OC at 3.61ghz, I find that opening programs or multiple windows there is some lag and stuff kind of "sticks" and then my computer continues what it is doing. Does anyone know why that may be? Cause at 3.4ghz programs and multitasking in windows is fast and smooth, but not as it is at 3.61ghz...

Try bumping up vcore a notch or 2 I just messed with my 3.6 I originally had 1.3375 with llc disabled. I enabled llc and the game worked. In windows at idle with llc disabled vcore would be 1.28 and 1.22 when loaded. With llc enabled vcore is 1.28 idle and load. I have since dropped vcore to 1.275 in bios windows sees 1.22 idle and load and game still worked.

Might be vcore as Acebmxer said, might be memory settings as you chnaged FSB and multi.
Please post BIOS settings and MemSet main window screen capture.

Good good you Brigs you made 3.6 GHz. I wouldn't worry about the IBT temp of 76C. I doubt anything you run in gaming or everyday computing will ever get it over 50C. Yor could probably go to a higher clock if your memory will take it. Your Call.
