    Your cpu temps at 3.6GHz should be fine when gaming and running everyday applications. IBT temps are usually at least 10 degrees (C) higher than anything else that you'll be running. The sluggishness at 3.6 is probably due to one or more bios settings. My preference is NOT to enable load line calibration (LLC). As Chike said, post your bios settings and the screen-shot for us to "grade" your setup.

    Once you have 3.6 settings running smoothly, you can try for 3.7 - 3.8GHz where the temperatures should be acceptable other than when running IBT. If you're satisfied with 3.6GHz you can leave it there until you upgrade your cpu heatsink. While increasing benchmark scores are nice, the bottom line is if your system meets your needs.

    I'd like Conners to explain exactly what the exhilarating change was with his system when he went from 3.6 to 3.8GHz. Did his games run noticeably better? Did his system feel snappier? In his thread, he never said additional gains were significantly better than his 3.8GHz setting.

    Ok so since my OC at 3.61ghz is stable but seems sluggish in windows, here is all my current BIOS settings and screenshot.... thanx Jim, I always forget to repost my current settings

    OH! And yes, I would love to hear about Conners' transition from 3.6 to 3.8ghz and how much better the leap was!

    looks identical to my 3.61ghz OC. other than i have in ddr2 800 mem oc'd. brigs you shouldnt have any problem with 3.7-4.0ghz. before i took out my friends gskill 1066 mem i was running at 3.83ghz with ease. did some of the tweaks conners suggested and smooth sailing.. just waiting to get me my own 1066 mem again..lol nice set up and good job.

    I was say 1 to 2 notches up on vcore probably 2, and 1 notch up on Cpu pll will due the trick. Maybe 1 notch up on Mch but I would try the first 2 first.

    While others have similar systems using cpu vcore = 1.25000 at 3.6GHz, yours probably needs a bump (maybe 2). Acebmxer beat me to the punch while I was checking Conners' origninal thread for his Cpu VID, but couldn't find it. If you've already included a CoreTemp screen-shot (which includes the default Cpu VID), let us know where.

    Your template is missing two settings:
    Load Line Calibration = Disabled/Enabled
    Cpu PLL = 1.50 <-- up it to 1.57 and leave it there for life ;)

    Live dangerously, bump the vcore and PLL and boot directly into windows, do not pass go, do not stress test (just yet). See if your system feels "happier" with the increased vcore settings, then do some modest stress testing if you're going to go for a bit more gusto.

    Yeah I meant to ask about LLC also.

    Going by his temp I was assuming his vid was 1.2500

    Looking at it again I was say leave vcore where it and just enable llc will be good. Try both.

    Thanx again for reply's, sorry the LLC and Cpu PLL wasnt listed, I have no clue why that template got all screwed up

    My LLC is Disabled
    My CPU PLL is 1.50v but I will up it to 1.57v; Does that mean I could leave it at 1.57v for all my OC's from 3ghz up to 3.61ghz, and I would be ok even if I had stock vcore for the lower OC's? (basically leaving it on 1.57v no matter what my core clock and vcore is).

    I will try the upping the vcore a notch at a time and see how she feels, thanx for your input guys

    My comment assumes that you'll never go back to near stock settings. Generally Cpu PLL should never exceed about 1.61 volts. Right now at 3.61GHz, your system is overclocked by 27%. As frequencies increase, the PLL (clock generator) is usually given a bit of an increase, but like many settings, higher is not necessarily better. I've found that increasing Cpu PLL one notch higher helps with stability, but most reputable sources caution that raising it too high can be harmful. I've read several articles that discuss this setting but don't really grasp why there is such a small safe working range.
