Just to clarify OEM vs Retail versions:
If you upgrade your cpu or mobo in the future, the retail license allows this, although you'll probably need to call Microsoft, explain your upgrade and then you'll be OK. Near as I can tell, the OEM license will not let you do either of these upgrades, the only exception might be if you replace a defective cpu or mobo with identical components.

To expand even more you can find all the license information for Retail and OEM @ C:\Windows\System32\en-US\Licenses\

OMG... crash n' burn guys... Well I am in the same boat with you Conners, I am running my "should be stable" OC of 3.4ghz and did a 12 hour Prime95 Blend last night and everything was great...but today, I just did my first IBT with my new win 7 64bit and it was total FAIL... So, I guess this BIOS configuration worked with my XP pro OS but now computer is unhappy with my BIOS with my new win 7 64bit.

Sooo... now I have to do some tweaking again LOL; I still have all stock voltages for vcore, pll and vtt so I guess I am gonna start with upping pll a notch to 1.57v and upping vcore a notch, maybe two as well. I guess I just dont understand why the system becomes unstable with the change of OS's, since all my hardware is exactly the same

OK, we are under a LVL 5 Quarantine now! No one leaves the room until everyone is STABLE! LOL

Also I noticed something was wrong right off the bat cause my temps for IBT where remaining extremely low barely hitting 60c with core and cpu temp..

Here's a nice shot of my train wreck for your viewing pleasure lol ~

rather than an actual Windows 7 problem, more than likely it just means that your system was never truly stable.

if you've gone from a 32bit to a 64bit OS, Windows will now be addressing 100% of your RAM, rather than 3-3.5GB. As this now available RAM has never been stress tested before, BIOS adjustment may be needed to get stability across the entire addressable range.

The CPU's EMT64/AMD64 instructions are also now being used, which may require CPU adjustment.

Oh boy...I hope that I dont have to go through changing every perameter in my BIOS... took such a long time to get it to where it was "stable", or so I thought

Well idk, maybe I'll start over back to 3ghz OC and keep goin up in increments again like last time, I just hope that its the cpu settings that I need to tweak, and not trying to get my ram stable again, cause that was such an issue for the longest time.. (as u probably saw in my previous 20 page thread on it

    thanx for reply psycho ^^

I really hate to disagree with you Psycho, and I do value your input greatly. But I know for a fact that Windows 7 and IBT, atleast for me wouldn't run properly untill I installed one of three things agent GOD suggested in his posts.

    These three things were:

    1. Could you try placing the IntelBurnTest folder on C:\ instead of C:\dir\dir\dir?
    2. You're missing .NET <NOBR style="COLOR: #0000ff; FONT-SIZE: 100%; FONT-WEIGHT: normal" id=itxt_nobr_20_0>Framework</NOBR> 2.0
    3. And/or Visual C++ 2008 Runtime

Now I personally found out that .NET <NOBR style="COLOR: #0000ff; FONT-SIZE: 100%; FONT-WEIGHT: normal" id=itxt_nobr_20_0>Framework</NOBR> 2.0 is part of the Win 7 OS default altho it's not listed in the Add/Remove Programs. So scratch.

I didn't move my install folder to the root directory. So scratch.

I did install C++2008 and BAM works fine. Solution.

Also noted by me that he (AgentGOD) suggests (and I could be out of line here), that a person should run the standard and/or maximum tests on auto instead of 4 threads or such. Because unless I read it wrong, it's about someway some how the Linpacs may get read wrong between Intel and IBT when you choose the number of threads. And he suggests using auto.

Call me an idiot or degenerate as you say in your posts but I happen to to know 1st hand that:

is not the actual problem, atleast for me.

    But IBT IMO.

This post and the next prove my point after installing C++ 2008.

BTW these are 3.91 GHz and 2.40B memory multiplier.

Thanx for posting Conners Ok all I can say is...wierd...I just rolled back to my first 3ghz OC and ran IBT max stress 4 threads manually and failed..

then, I installed visual c++ express and updated it, and then ran IBT max stress threads on Auto and everything passed... my GFlops where good at 42 but my loops times where at like 125 or so.

So then, I ran IBT again, now with visual c++ and max stress but put 4 threads in manually and it passed but was worse at 40 GFlops and 142 loop times... wierd.

then, I did another thing Conners said was to put IBT in my C:\ drive directly and not in /dir/dir/dir format as you where saying and I ran again max stress 4 threads manually and this time ... fail...

So I havnt a clue in the world what is going on now LOL, it passes then it doesnt pass, then my loops times are all different and GFlops; Anyone have an idea of what is going on with IBT? LOL; Cause I must be retarded or something

thanx for input guys... here is a screenshot of my first successfull run right after I installed visual c++ and used auto threads; Dont know why my loop times look oddly high and my GFlops look normal...~

You used 3 times the memory.

Chikes right your were using 3 times the memory. All you really need to run is standard 1024 and auto threads for testing.
