Thanks for posting again guys LOL, so was I getting erratic results simply due to the fact that I was using the maximum memory? And was I running it right for checking stability, like should I always use the auto setting and not manually set 4 threads, and is it necessary to run max stress or should I just do standard; And if it passes standard then I am ok? Cause in XP pro I always would run max stress and set 4 theads manually, not sure if that is necessary to do it that way..

I assume it doesnt matter if I run IBT directly from C:\ or C:\dir\dir\IBT?

Sry for all the questions again LOL I just got thrown for a loop cause I didnt have this issue with XP pro

Oh and, I am guessing my screenshot of the run I did with max stress and auto on threads, that was a good IBT pass, and maybe I can just move on now?...someone shoot me now lol

    P.S. ran Prime95 Blend 12 hours 0 errors, ran memtest86+ 13 passes 0 errors.

    Last screen shot was good.
The times are longer because you use more memory, doesn't effect the results that much, they are GFlop/second.
What do you mean by erretic?

Thanx for posting Chike, I know I'm a pain, sry Well what I just meant by erratic was when I would change from 4 threads to auto my loop times and GFlops would change some, they usually got worse when I manually selected 4 threads, and temps went up more too.

And I usually run IBT straight from my desktop, but one time I decided to put it in C:\IntelBurnTest instead of the usual C:\users\brigs\IntelBurnTest, cause Conners said it may make a difference, (or thats what agentGOD said), and when I ran it not from desktop but straight from C:\IntelBurnTest I selected max stress and 4 threads manually and it failed, not sure why, but it passed every other time that it was ran from my desktop.

    Thanx again for input guys

Edit:Ok guys I'm updating this real quick, have good news, I just upped OC back to 3.4ghz ran IBT max stress threads on auto and it passed...but for lack of better words, it passed EXCELLENT

Loop times went down to like 116 and GFlops skyrocketed up to more than 47 (from 42 at 3ghz). I'm pretty damn happy I have to say, maybe it was the visual c++ express program that I installed that help IBT function correctly idk, but I'm likin it alot

Posting a quick screenshot of my 3.4ghz OC IBT run so you can check it out, and thanx again for putting up with all my shenanigans!

I'm callin this OC stable and movin on LOL!

Hey guys, quick question again. I know a lot of you dont game but, I decided to run 3DMark06 to see what my score is now with win 7 64bit... Well, when I had my system OC to 3.4ghz running win XP pro I got a max score of 15428 which was a nice 1000 points above the stock speed of my CPU... Now, I just ran 3DMark06 in win 7 64bit with the same 3.4ghz OC and I now only get 14734... and I changed my drivers back to previous versions and the current version of nvidia drivers and I get the same score no matter what , so does anyone know why I saw a 700 point drop in my score under win 7 64bit as opposed to the same exact OC in win XP pro? Cause I have not changed a single thing accept my OS and I have a larger faster HDD (my old HDD only had 8mb cach); Cause I think I would see the same result, if not a little better improvment eh?

    thanx guys

I game but never ran 3DMark06 Basic till yesterday when I accidentally ran across it for free on-line test results. Mine was like 17,000 something so I don't know if thats good or not. I know thats doesn't help you with your question though.

Gotta hand it to you Conners, you'll do anything to gain the upper hand when it comes to one-upmanship ;)
Maybe Briggs' results have something to do with his new 64-bit o/s upgrade.
Is there a 32-bit special mode in Win 7 Home Premium that might offer better scores?

Thanx for postin fella's, as Jim said~

Is there a 32-bit special mode in Win 7 Home Premium that might offer better scores?
No, there is no 32bit mode I can switch to, but when I bought Win 7 Home Premium Retail it came with the 32bit OS disc and 64bit OS disc, and of course I wanted the 64bit, so thats what I installed.

Conners I think your GPU is 1 or 2 tiers up on the Hierarchy GPU chart than mine is so possibly that is why your score is better, plus, you have a way way better OC than me LOL, your friggin GFlops are in the 50's lol, very nice Conners

Ya, I just dont get why I lost 700 points on my 3DMark06 test just from changing OS's, I wouldnt believe it would be my HDD because this new HDD is 16mb cache and my old 80GB drive is only 8mb cache, but that shouldnt affect gaming at all.

The only thing I can think that is different is I have DirectX 11 installed now, (cause I have 64bit OS), and when I had XP pro running I had DirectX 9.0c installed, so I dont know if those made a differance, or if Win 7 is just so new that better Nvidia drivers are needed to optimize my GPU... idk

XP always gives better scores, this is why you will see MANY benchmark pro's or contests use XP

It is the OS, that is all.... Setup a dual Win7/XP boot and you will see what I mean

That's what I was thinking about last night Brigs when posting is the only reason my score may be higher than your is cause I and running a 3.9 GHz compaired to your 3.4 GHz. And if you were running the same, 3.9 GHz your score may be equal or better than mine...

As 3DMark is a 32 bit program, with not so much as a nod to a 64bit environment, that could be a factor in the slightly lower score. Also, bear in mind that 700 points isn't much (unless as Lsd says, you're competitively benching). The margin of error on 3DMark these days, with much more powerful hardware could be around the 500 point mark.

As you say, a HDD will do nothing for 3DMark. I've noticed a smootheness increase in Crysis with my SSD though. Any game that streams data from the HDD *may* benefit from a faster HDD/SSD.

The main factor in a high 3DMark 06 score is the GPU. CPU speed does effect things, but not as much. I've only got two CPU cores, but can still manage to pull around 17500 points, mainly due to having two 4850's in Crossfire.
