Ok well good and bad news again... So I ran Prime95 small FFT test for 2 hours as a preliminary and 0 errors which is good.

Then, I ran IBT max stress 5 runs and 4 threads, and I still get low times and 37 GFlops and passed with 0 errors, but, the bad part is... with my damn case closed I was getting CPU temps at 73c and Core 0 pegged 74c a couple of times

So not sure where that leaves me, I think my case sucks I guess even though its a Lian-Li aluminum, but huge drawbacks that I cant get better HS and PSU is mounted directly over the HS and ONLY 2 fans in the case with absolutely no room for expansion, and, its a mini-tower :(

So idk if I should leave my OC at 3Ghz, (is it safe to leave at 3Ghz or should I go back to stock?), and call it good for now till I can afford a better case and such, (I'm still in the process of buying a new PSU). Not sure what else I could do; Feel a bit limited....

Edit: Yes I do have EIST Disabled ^^

thanx again guys for help ^^

How about leaving the side cover off for now and using the fan blowing into the case? This would be temporary until you can upgrade your computer case.

When testing with IBT, are you manually setting Theads = 4 for your C2Q?

I recently discovered that using THREADS = 2 (instead of AUTO) for my CD2 resulted in:
    1) faster (lower) loop times
    2) higher GFlops scores
    3) temperatures that were 8 - 11 (C) HIGHER!!!!

Another member confirmed this with his C2Q (with THREADS = 4) after I mentioned this.

Problem is case vantilation the HS prob would hold 3.2-3.4GHz
Do you know what kins of fans installed in the case, CFM wise? Could be that just better fans will sort it out.
Could you also post some pics of the case, back front and inside(case open)?

I briefly checked out his case (Lian-Li PC-3077 Aluminum).
    It's small with only 2 80mm fans.

Yes ProfJim, I did run IBT and manually set to 4 threads maximum stress, and boy did it get hot :(

And yes just the 2x 80mm fans, one intake infront and one exhaust ontop, NONE in the rear :(

So should I just go back to my old 2.83Ghz for now and wait till I can get a better case? Probly gonna be a couple months ><

Anyway, here are the side open case, back and front of my case pics ~

    Are you near Wilsonville, Oregon?
    Fry's Electronics, 29400 SW Towncenter Loop West, (503) 570-6000

They might have some inexpensive cases that were returned by customers, display models, or some that have minor shipping damage.
The greater Portland, Salem or Eugene areas probably have one or more computer recyclers that have usable cases for cheap.
Several years ago I bought a computer at a Goodwill Thrift store that had a fully functional Gateway mid-tower win98se setup for $10.

I currently have my computer case beside my work area on a night table. The mobo is out of the case (for now) and the mobo is resting on a 9" x 10" USPS box beside the case. All the remaining hardware is installed in the case. Can you say ugly? Cooling is not a problem and I have a 9" fan about 8 feet away that circulates air around my system.

For now, I'd keep your system at stock settings. A 3GHz setup should be fine.

KK cool I'll do that for now, just stock 2.83Ghz till I can get a better case. I need a new PSU first which I am ordering next week, my 535w Enermax is quite dated and I want a 650-750w PSU so I can get a next gen GPU. I'm gonna figure out a way to get a better case lol, I'm too hooked on the OCing to stop now

If anything, I have learned a TON of info so far from you guys on OCing that has been seriously helpful and I am much obliged guys!

Ya ProfJim I wish I was close to Fry's Electronics I love that store, but I am all the way down in Medford in Southern Oregon and there is SLIM pickins here >< I might have to look around here and see if there are any cheap or recycled cases I could get my hands on. Do you think that an all aluminum case is absolutely necessary for OCing; Cause all I have bought before is all aluminium Lian-Li cases, maybe I should check out other brands that are cheaper? Any suggestions? I did check out the Coolmaster Scout that wazza recommended and it was pretty cool, all steel.

    thanx again guys ^^

Check out Newegg for computer cases. They offer many brands at excellent prices and their service is also excellent. Many of the cases include free shipping, but this can vary at any time. Price changes can occur at any time. Be sure to sign up for their email offers, as these offer additional discounts on selected items.

I've never used an all aluminum case, so I can't say whether they are preferable.
I have no problem with a quality, all steel case.
I've been very happy with my CM RC-690 case, and right now it's available for $69.99 with free shipping.
The CM HAF 932 handles the newer E-ATX mobos and comes with several large cooling fans. This is what I would buy if I needed a new case.
The HAF 922 is a bit less expensive than the 932, but comes with fewer large cooling fans.
The Scout and Storm models look good too.
The older but still popular Centurion and Elite models might not be large enough for modern video cards.

Check out the large selection of other brands of cases that they offer.

Whichever cases you're interested in, read the customer reviews and case reviews from reputable websites to learn the pluses and minuses for each model.

Here's a link to Coolermaster Computer Cases @ Newegg, sorted by best rating.

If you can't shake the o/c bug, set your mobo outside of your current case until you find a replacement case.

I'll have to look you up the next time I visit Crater Lake. My last visit there was 30 years ago.

As for cases, I have the CM 590 case and it has served me well with a exception. Its not well built for watercooling. That is CM's own rad that comes with their water kit wont fit up in the top of the case like I thought it would. But since your not using water cooling its a great case for air. Its $10 cheaper then the 690 but the 690 looks great. Its your choice their is a lot of great case in the $40-$70 price range for air cooling.

My problem is I would like to find a case that can hold 2 rads internally with out costing $200-$400. That is just to much money for computer case. So right now I have the side panel off and 2 rads sitting on the floor right next to case. Its under my desk so its in the way of anything.
