    I did run a test of Blend, assumed that would be the best test to test stability. FFT size was between 8K and 4096K.

    Furthermore, I know it's the FSB beeing the limiting factor, did lower the multi already, together with the memory on a 2.00B setting, and there aswell I couldn't get much higher on FSB.

    FSB overvoltage was that high as I was just testing it a bit, and as I didn't know exaclty what's causing the instability at 455+ FSB, I just added more voltage on it to ensure I'm not lacking there ;) .

    When Prime95 fails, the worker thread that had an error will display the last FFT size that failed. It helps if you tell us how long the test ran and the FFT size that failed. You can post a screen-shot like your post #5 settings, and also include the Prime95 screen. It helps if we can see the maximum monitored temperatures, especially the cpu core temps.

    Generally smaller FFT sizes indicate a cpu related error and larger FFT errors point to memory related errors.
    The Prime95 small FFT tests primarily stresses your cpu with little memory testing and generates more heat.
    The large FFT stresses memory more than cpu.

    I thought fsb overvoltage (vtt) should generally be between .o5 and .1 less than vcore?

    In page 3 of Global, second paragraph it is explain why vtt should be less than vcore, as for how much less I don't know.

    Finally managed to run Prime95 on the PC with the following settings:

    FSB: 453Mhz
    Multi: 8.5X
    PCI-E bus: 104Mhz
    Memory: 543.6Mhz @ 5-5-5-15

    Vcore: 1.3375V in BIOS
    Vmem: 2.2(stock voltage)
    FSB voltage: +25V
    G(MCH): +0.275V

    Subtimings over the memory are also a bit tweaked, but won't post them unless needed, it's alot of typing and I think not needed with the current error in Prime95.

    After running Prime 95 for over +6 hours, I got an error on the first CPU core on the 160K self test, which returned a value of 0.5 where 0.4 or less was expected.
    Other cores didn't make have any errors/warnings at that time, and where still going strong after 8 hours of crunching(Prime95 was running while I was away :P )

    So where do I need to change something to get stable and higher? More Vcore is my guess, but am I right :) ?

    Right, got my HD5870, and been playing a bit with that, but still want to archieve higher clocks with the Q9550 :P Any tips from the experienced guys on how to get even higher?

    I have no idea what settings will work for you, but seeing you are at 453fsb there are GTLREF settings and CPU Clock Skew Control. I have needed both since 450fsb X 9.5

    I just passed 25 hours of prime95 with a dualcore E8500 EO at 454 using 50ps CPU clock skew, and GTLREF1 of -3% and GTLREF2 of Normal. Not what I would have expected, but it did wonders for stability. (GTLREF: Press Control + F1 in bios main menu, appears in MIT)

    The added bonus was that I could use a step lower FSB Overvoltage Control (Vtt) and MCH Overvoltage Control, and in windows cpuid shows a lower cpu voltage.

    A quad will be different I'm sure. Try GTL settings on a saved profile changing one at a time and seeing how long they survive Prime or LinX. The setting that does not fail or fails least wins.

    Don't know how much stability testing you've done, but it is an essential tool in getting a reliable overclock...

    Course, that might be a bit further than u want to go ....

    Nah it's not to far. Just not used it yet, as I wasn't entirely sure which direction I should go with it.

    Stable at 456 FSB now, even though the Quad now needs 1.36Vcore, FSB +0.3V and (G)MCH +0.275V to run Prime95 stable. But thanks for those GTL settings, will give it a shot :). BTW, what should I do with Skew control?

    I only had to use 50ps CPU Clock Skew. Usage seems to vary between 50 and 200.
