    well disreguard all comments about me getting the ASUS P5Q Deluxe. was just informed where i was getting it from is out of stock and wont be requestign any new in... so i will be looking at the UD3P again..lol not that it isnt one of the top 2 boards i want. the ASUS was just #1...lol

    Hey rob, you might have noticed my really long post you have read before on "Noob OCing my Q9550" on getting my new build stable and OC'd to 3.61ghz. Well I will give you here the template of what I did in my UD3P BIOS to get it stable. Also, you have the gskill ram as do I and I could not get it stable at all unless it was set to 1.05v (stock in bios is 1.10v). I have the 2x2 GB 1066 pack and it runs flawlessly now. During the time of my OCing from 3ghz to 3.61ghz I never had to up pll, vcore or vtt, I only just recently upped vcore and pll 1 notch to make it so my OS didnt feel so "sluggish", other than that I never touched those settings, I had them set "manually" though when they where at stock settings.

    Prime95 Blend passed 24 hour pass, IBT 10 passes (quite a few times) max stress v2.3, and did countless passes (30 or more, a little excessive lol) of Memtest86+ v4.00 (newest version), everything passed great.

    I know your goal is 3.8ghz+ , but when you get your new gigabyte board and put in that gskill ram this template of my BIOS might help you get started!

    Remember to "Load Optimized Defaults" before tweaking

    thanks Brigs ill save that to file for me.
    those settings are very close to what i have right now for 3.78ghz i have just gotten stable but i do have my MCH 1.30v right now. and isee you have CPU PLL set to 1.57v i have mine at 1.50v. i will have to give this a run and see how it goes.some times i guess you have to go slower to get faster..lol i heard that somewhere before..lol

    as with you i did just up my Vcore 1 notch to make my OS not seem sluggish as you did and it makesa big difference. also i ran a older version of IBT and passed yesterday at 3.77ghz but when i ran the newest version it wouldnt pass. so i made some small tweaks and have not only passed both IBT i have but has passed the newest with the max setting for mem. so im happy there. here is what i have right now.

    Lookin good Rob! I see you runnin your memory at 890mhz, you still using the Gskill 1066 sticks? And if so, did you try the 2.40B strap multi for your ram and hitting 3.8ghz? Cause if you used the 2.40B strap and did 444FSB you could get your ram to 1065 and your cpu clock would be the 8.5x 444 which is 3.77ghz, just playin around with what you could do

    yes im still useing the G-Skill 1066 when i had it at the 2.40B strap i couldnt get it stablei havent tried takeing the MCH down to 1.05v instead of going the other way. i actually might try that right now.

    i just cant get it to run 3.83ghz 451x8.5 hell ive increased vcore which i know it didnt need. took mch down to 1.05v and back up to 1.32v just cant seem to get it stable. let alone to fire up and stick with the OC. i dont understand it at all. cause these are the same sticks i had when i did have it running at 3.83ghz a couple weeks ago. maybe there is some setting im missing.

    i do have the mem running at 1066 now and stable with 2.40B strap.

    Why are you sure it's the sticks? It's a high FSB, VTT,T PLL, CPU/MCH Ref, and CPU/MCH Clock Skew may need teaking too.
    Does Prime95 small FFT fails too?

    well im not 100% sure its the sticks. its just that the only things i have adjusted point to them. i dont know anything about the other stuff you have stated above to even mess with those settings. i didnt try to run prime with it set at 3.83 mainly for the fact it wouldnt boot up all hte way and when it did as soon as i started to run IBT it would lock up on me.
