Spent a good part of yesterday going thru the other q9550 threads. So far no joy. I'll put some more time into it tonight.

I set the timings back to auto as suggested, set the MCH to 1.28, the DRAM to 2.1 fixed all the "Advanced Settings' items ProfJim pointed out and then ran the windows version of memtest on 6,144 mb of ram (3 instances at 2048 each) to 105% and no errors. So that's good news.

(So Far) Any change to the CPU either gets me an IRQ BSOD or starts out with 9 fast beeps meaning I've got a voltage error. I did have one setup that worked for a time then BSOD'd on a cannot read from error.

I need as much as I can get for AutoCAD. I bought two sets of 2x4gb. I made sure they ended up in the same color sockets.

Could you post a screen capture of MemSet main and spd(click spd) windows of the stable settings?

Don't hasitate to post the template of changes you've tried and failed, it is impossible to guess what "any change" means to comment on it.

I originally had two sets of 2 x 1 in my x48, and they were trouble. If your two pairs work together you are doing well. Sometimes 2 pairs have to be run at lower than rated speeds.
That's why a matched set of 4 was mentioned. Your ram settings looked quite good, especially if testing showed no errors.

That info on the MCH comes straight from G Skill Tech support on their forums.

And after going back to their site, they have removed the link they posted last month on 8gbs of RAM. The info is now saying 1.3 on MCH, and that is what I use.

Sounds to me kinda like you need to raise your Static tRead value up one notch to say like 8.

I can't understand why timings are set to 5-7-7-20 for DDR-800, is Performance Enhance set to Turbo?
Could you post MemSet spd windows screen capture as well?
    Are those settings stable?

    He's got G Skill 1066's, which is probably an 800mhz chip OC'd based anyways, those are standard settings (5 7 7 20 )

His performance is probably set to turbo getting that 7 and I agree with Conners upping it to 8.

And I would also suggest the main timings to 5 5 5 18 and tRFC up to 72 with having the 8gbs.

Lantec, are those G Skill Pi's, Tridents or regular flavored??

If you don't manage to get them to work as DDR-1066 you may try tighter timings for DDR-800 that might enable Static tRead Value 6.
    Are those settings stable?
