    Default GA-P35-DS3L BSOD issues

    Mobo: GA-P35-DS3L
    RAM: Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 1 GB x 4
    Processor: Intel Q6600

I know this issue has been posted on this board and several others, however I have yet to be able to gain anything out of it besides RMA my RAM, which I have done three times.

It seems like my computer always runs fine for a few months before the BSOD's begin. I RMA my RAM and it seems like the issue goes away, only to return. After RMAing my RAM twice I was sent 2.0v, the previous ones were 2.2v. Well now a few months later I am starting to experience BSODS again.

These issues seem to happen at anytime, bootup, immediately after clicking on a link, trying to scroll down (freezes slightly and bsod's), when the computer is sitting unused, etc. There have been times in the past where the computer goes to reboot and only the fans run at full speed continuously (this is what leads me to believe that it is a MOBO issue because nothing appears on the screen, if it were a graphics issue the computer should be able to boot up ideally).

    My questions are:
    1. Is this probably another RAM issue or a Mobo issue?
    2. What should my BIOS timing/voltage/etc settings be at (for everything).
ie. It says 5-5-5-15, however when I change it to 4-4-4-12 my computer won't boot up.
    3. What temps should my computer be reading

    Thank you

I personally would doubt the ram is/was your issue, especially since you RMA it several times with no luck. Settings maybe, maybe not.

In order to try and help you please use the below template we use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours. Also please provide your hardware specs in your signature.

I too have a P35-DS3L mobo, with 4 sticks (3GB) of the older 2.2 volt Ballistix memory and no problems. My E2140 "super slug" cpu is overclocked 75% to 2.8GHz and is completely stable.

Do as Conners suggests and post your bios settings and add a detailed hardware list to your forum signature.

We need to confirm what the "Normal" settings are in your bios.
    Include a screenshot that displays:
Memset using the SPD and ">>" tabs
cpu-z CPU and Mainboard screens (several instances can be run at the same time)
EasyTune6 --> TUNER tab --> ADVANCE tab --> VOLTAGE tab (only the Voltage tab is needed)

    Are the following settings correct?
    CPU Host Frequency (MHz)_________ [100]
    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [Auto]
It looks like they are reversed.

Are you running VMware or Virtual PC?
Do you need the option of booting from a usb device?

Your problems appear to be caused by incorrect voltages.
Once we can see your screen-shot we can make recommendations.

Do you want a screen shot of the BIOS screens or off a program such as Everest?

Everest isn't needed in the screen-shot.
Photos of the bios screens makes it more difficult for us.
Filling in the bios template (accurately!!) is what we need.

As specified in post #5, Memset, cpuz, and EasyTune6 are needed.
Be sure to include the specified screen displays.
You can include any other information that you feel is helpful if you'd like.

Here is a post that includes the screen-shot information we need.

It looks like they are reversed. In my screwed up system that is how they are displayed. Might be one of those optical illusion things.

Are you running VMware or Virtual PC? No, I should probably disable that.
Do you need the option of booting from a usb device? No. I turned that on while I was trying something a month or two ago and didn't turn it off.

Your problems appear to be caused by incorrect voltages.

To use 4-4-4-12 primary timings, your DRAM voltage needs to be set to +0.20 volts, where 1.80 volts is the default and the cpuz EPP#1 profile shows that the memory needs 2.00 volts at 400MHz (800MHz memory speed).

    Make the following bios changes:

    CPU Host Frequency (MHz)_________ [Auto]
    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [100]

    CAS Latency Time________________ [4]
    Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________ [4]
    Dram RAS# Precharge Delay________ [4]
    Precharge Delay (tRAS)____________ [12]

    DDR2 OverVoltage Control__________ [+0.20]
    PCI-E OverVoltage Control__________ [Normal]
    FSB OverVoltage Control___________ [+0.05]
    (G)MCH OverVoltage Control _______ [+0.10] <-- +0.05 might be OK

    CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)................: [Enabled]
CPU Thermal Monitor 2(TM2) ...........: [Enabled]
    CPU EIST Function.........................: [Enabled]
Virtualization Technology................: [Disabled] Enabled ONLY if you use Vmware/Virtual PC

    Integrated Peripherals
Legacy USB Storage Detect..............: [Disabled] *Note* Must be enabled to flash from USB

You need to stress test these settings to ensure that your system is stable.
Run the Prime95 Blend test for at least 8 - 12 hours, longer is better.

When you post back with your results, include the updated bios template and include a new screen-shot similar to your last post.
Include RealTemp and HWmonitor in your screen-shot while Prime95 was running.
If you want to do any overclocking, we can help you after we know that your system is stable.

I went to adjust the CPU Host value and I only have the option to insert a value (I can not select auto).
