Thread: Bought a Q9550. The quest for 4Ghz starts now.

Ok. With those changes, IBT passed, standard setting, auto threads, 10 passes. I needed to bump my v-core to 1.293 (1.168 - 1.184 under load).

    - I then ran the same test with 90% ram usage. IBT failed on the 3rd pass.

    - Then I duplicate the first test (above) and get a blue screen on the first pass.

    - Rebooted and ram P95 and failed within a few minutes.

You might try upping the vcore some more till it boots..

My current template. I can pass IBT, 10 pass, std setting, auto thread (see screen below). I cannot pass IBT with the high ram settings. I've jacked my vcore as high as 1.3325 with no change. Not sure how high I should go.

Lodingi, hey lower your vcore down till it won't boot but no less than your vid. the up a notch or two. After that I suggest you up your cpu termination one notch at a time and test but not more that say 2 or 3 clicks. If this works for your then goto the MCH Reference and do the same thing. You could also try both of those on auto and see what Easy tune reports.

    Back at ya

I was able to boot at 1.25 (my vid). So I re-booted, up the vcore 2 notches (1.2625), set CPU Term & MCH Ref to Auto.

ET6 reports CPU Term at 1.50 & MCH Ref at 0.76.

    - Ran IBT, 10 pass, std setting, auto thread. Instant BSOD.

    - Upped vcore 2 notches (1.275). Ran IBT, 10 pass, std setting, auto thread. IBT reported success after the 1st pass, even though I ran a 10 Pass test. Quite bizarre.

    - Upped vcore 1 notch to 1.28125. Ran IBT, 10 pass, std setting, auto thread. IBT failed on the 9th pass.

    - Upped vcore 1 notch to 1.2875. Ran IBT, 10 pass, std setting, auto thread. IBT reported success after the 1st pass, even though I ran a 10 Pass test. Ugh!

    - Ditched IBT, started up P95. Ran the blend test which failed after about 1 minute. Core 4 stopped working.

    - Upped vcore 1 notch to 1.29375. Ran P95 blend test. Core 3 stopped working after 11 minutes.

Do I keep raising the vcore?

get conners to post his 4.5Ghz settings thatl warm things up :0

seriously tho.. even like, vid is a processor thing which is sort of the guaranteed maximum voltage the processor will need to work at standard speed.(I think)
Even overclocked it may need less than that to run fine.. but you will hit a point where it has to go beyond that .
My processor is different but it will work fine below 1.2 V if the fsb is below 450 at max multiplier.. but going just for the mimimum voltage on cpu isnt an end in itself .I dunno what minimum below vid (1.225 vid) i could get running at 3Ghz.. maybe 1.15V? but is it much use ,no.

So Conners is at 4.5? Wow!

Update. I raised the vcore to 1.30. P95 lasted 15 minutes before failing. I am currently at 1.306 vcore. P95 has been running quite smooth for 53 minutes. Let's see if she gets through the night.

Meh! Core 3 crapped out shortly after my previous post.

It's hard for me to believe you yould need that much vcore @ that fsb, but yours might. I got to think it's in the cpu or mch reference voltages. But you could try clock skews. for example. If you do you may have to try changing other settings...
