    looks like I still have work to do failed after a couple hours so it said this morning.

    I will take a better look at your quest for 500 thread Conners and see if I can glean anything there. I think the reason I passed the 13 hours before was I had a couple voltages set to auto which I have now learned was a no no due to high voltages.

    I'll play with it later, right now the wife has not been too happy with my time spent on this thing . I am close on 3.9 though so I will keep that as my goal. Can you tell me how far off your MB does that V8 sit?

    Well home from work and ran P95 since this morning (a little over 8 hours) no errors but I had backed the clock down to 3.8 so I am pretty close to goal. I better make sure I record setting from here and then I can try to bump it up to 3.9. max temp was 58 C

    Looks good gray, but there are a few things that could be tweaked for the better. Make sure you 100% stable at this speed save your bios to your hard drive, a memory stick and or a floppy disk.

    Still have problem with getting to 3.9 I can run Intelburn for 25 passes (heat build becomes an issue by the 20th pass) no errors but 20 minutes into Prime95 I get a rounding error.

    Conners, I am open to suggestions on the above BIOS so by all means please feel free to let me know of any issues you see.

    Which Prime95 test were you running? Blend? small FFT? large FFT?
    Failing at 20 minutes means that you completed the first 15 minute test.

    IBT for 10 - 20 passes is enough.
    What bios changes were made going from 3.8 to 3.9GHz?
    Please post your full 3.9GHz bios template.

    I just grabbed IBT last nite to try it out instead of Prime. I see the THREADS tab, and i assume that is how many threads to test like how prime uses "workers" to test. though it goes up to 32 threads i believe, i have seen people saying 16 n such, what is optimal for for an i7 with HT on, my guess what be 8. Some more info would be cool, thanks guys.

    Sorry about the V8 measurement I'll get that when I get home today.
    Also use the settings below. When you get to the CPU Termination do this in order.
    1. Change CPU Termination from 1.30v to the default of 1.200v
    2. Change the CPU Referennce from Auto to the default 0.760v
    3. Change the MCH Reference from Auto to the default .0.760v
    4. Change the CPU Termination fron the default 1.200v to 1.280v
    5. Change the Dram Voltage from 2.100 to the default value of 2.00v? <-- in the bios it will show up in white
    6. Change the MCH/DRAM Reference form Auto to the default value 0.900V? <-- in the bios it will show up in white
    7 Change the DRAM Termination form Auto to the default value 0.900V? <-- in the bios it will show up in white
    8 Change the Dram Voltage from default value 2.00? to 2.100v? <-- in the bios it will show up in white
    Once you made the changed test test test and post your entire corredted bios and make any changes to the default values so their accurate. A peep one told me that accuracy isn't important, it's everything.

    To get the best IBT times, GFlop scores and highest temperatures, THREADS=4 should be used for your i7. If you have hyper-threading turned on, try THREADS=8 and let us know what the differences are.

    With my C2D, I tested with AUTO, 2, 4, and 8. There were differences with each test, but THREADS=2 game me the highest temperatures, 8 - 11 (C) higher, and the fasted times and GFlops.
