    Yes It was your first and foremost option, and still is. The formatted clean install will fix those corupted files that wont allow you to boot into Windows. If you want to save all the work you will need to install the clean Windows on a new harddrive. Then you can put that drive as a data drive and collect the data you want to save. I am afraid this is about the best way to do it now.
