im using samsung F1 drives 4 of them. Ok when i fist built this it would boot in windows fast shut down fast and when running programmes you didnt have to wait it was instant start up of the next programme now theres a delay even my wife notices how slow it has gone that why i wanted the original bios back up to try that to see if it would go back to how it was when i first got it.

yh if one drive fails all the other data on the other drives are no good as it shares it acroos 4 drives,it depends on how full they are as it will slow the fuller they are and 4 drives are alot you can expect a little slowdown, also set hdd delay in bios to 0 that will help and first boot device as you os/hard drive...the only other way is if you buy a fast ssd drive and put os on it and then use the other four drives as storage...but ssd drives are expensive as they havnt been out that long

Sounds to me like the problem may just be regular "clutter" has been added to the operating system. Like most people you probably have more stuff running in the background than when you first set up your computer. Have you installed ANY programs since you first set up your system and timed your on/off times? Feel free to ignore me if you have formatted and reinstalled since the issue began but I do not see any mention of a reinstall of your operating system in your posts.
    Antec 900 case (4 120mm and 1 200mm lighted fans + UFO flashing light set + 2 12" and 1 6" Mutant Mods meteor lights) - Aerogate ll thermal controller - Asus M2N-e SLI - AMD 64 X2 AM2 6400+ - Corsair TX650 PSU - MSI 450GTS Cyclone OC - 2 X 2GB Patriot Extreme Performance PC2 6400 RAM - SATA 320 GB Seagate HD, SATA 300GB Maxtor HD and IDE 80 GB Samsung HD - Floppy Drive/Card Reader Combo - LG SuperMulti Lightscribe 18x DVD RW - Plextor PX-716A DVD r/rw - Windows 7 Home Premium 64
