    Default Ep45-UD3P 1.6 v. 1.1 HOT - over heating

I had no problems OC 1.1 board to 3.8 with the switch to 1.6 I can only go safely to 3.2 - this is with a Q9650.

I even tried different coolers without luck.

    Memory Kingston HyperX 1066 DDR2 2.3v.
I realize Kingston states 1.8v but I had no luck OCing with any other memory. So this is what I chose.

I have tried FA, FB and the one of this board as well but no change. All things point to 1.6 board

I am only using CPU Host Control - Enabled
    CPU Host Frequency - 423

No other changes. would greatly appreciate any help.

Also is there an IRC to discuss this stuff.

i will post a screen shot shortly.

i did figure out something rather strange.
kingston memory and identical part number i noticed something different on the sticker.

    BSMK 1670943 - 99U5316 - 043.A00LF K2
    BSMK 1690991 - 99U5316 - 054.A00LF K2

The memory on the top I can over clock but no the one at the bottom. Really strange. If anyone has any insight on this please let me know.

    Kingston HyperX KHX8500D2K2 - 4gb kits

So this is why I can not OC as normal. But I am sure it is possible.

How far are you tring to o.c your ram? In general if the ram was sold as a kit then they should both be able to o.c the same but its not guaranteed. Try running ram at 2.00 multi. My ram can only go up to 1080 I can boot to 1100 but never get it stable. My mb and cpu can go up to 4500 I can get 4455 stable 9x495.

Hey thanks guys for the quick response. This is a great forum. Do you guys have an IRC as well?

@Acebmxer "Try running ram at 2.00 multi" - are you referring to 2.66D (SPD) - 400MHZ
Yes, I have tried this nothing doing

@Chike - Temps go to 49 at idle and 65-75. Most of the time machines wouldn't boot. As I mentioned I swapped CPU so I could rule out a bad CPU.

So this is a 1.1 to 1.6 rev issue +
    The Kingston memory issue

I am hoping someone that has Rev. 1.6 EP45-UD3P let's me know what type of memory they are using. I just wish I could buy the rev 1.1 boards

From the link you gave it states 2.3V on your memory... What are the timings on the side of your ram? May need to underclock them... Just thoughts

Read this post. Brigs has the 1.6 board with the same ram I have in my sig. He has another post getting ram working and settled to run ram at 800mhz. Then later found out lowering Mch voltage below 1.2 was able to run his ram stable at 1066. Like chike said post a screen shot of ET6 voltage tab. As far as your temps Idle temps dont really matter only full load temps really matter in your screen shot include Real temp or core temp which ever program you are using to see your temps.

Edit also FDa is the latest beta bios for the 1.6 may wanna try and updating to that.

Okay I will post a shot of voltage Tab - early A.M. (long week).

@Acebmxer - Yes I came across FDa beta bios on this site and gave it a go but same issues.

Thx for link I am going to give it a read and I will post the on the Kingston forum to find out what the difference of this ram is.

Even though you are buying the same skew - the memory may have changed - buyer beware.

If I find a solution I will post a result.

I did not say it is the CPU, I asked a few questions.
Are those core temps or CPU temps as reported by EasyTube?
You have only chaned FSB, this is not the way to do it.
What cpu cooler and PSU do you use?(add to your sig)
Did you use the same PSU with the rev 1.1 board.

Hey Chike, no I didn't mean that you stated it was CPU, I was just eliminating as many variables as possible. I thought it could be a bad CPU so I swapped.

The same PSU is being used on the Rev 1.1 (all the components are the same)

I am a n00b so FSB was the easiest way but obviously not the best way.

They are core temps, 1 of the cores was even higher than the rest. Hopefully that will add a clue to the puzzle.

    Screen shots coming.
