    Perhaps I was not doing it quite right, but I had it right down to 1.24375v and didn't notice any shift in the performance or temperatures (they were still over my max load temperature); instead I just had a BSOD while the test was running.

    That's another good thing! Load is down to ~45 degrees C (under Prime), 55 under IBT. However, I am not sure if my sensors are stuck or what, but idle remains at 32 degrees. Finally, ambient is around 21 degrees C.

    Are you setting the number of threads IBT uses manually? I recommend you do, as it seems to intensify the workload better than leaving it on auto. Temps increase even more when manual thread counts are used. This may help with spotting performance decreases and/or lower temps at insufficient VCore.

    To test if your sensors are indeed stuck at 32c, you can temporarily move the PC to the coldest part of your house, set FSB to 333, multiplier to 6* and Vcore to~1.1V (maybe less if you can). Boot into windows and check what your idle temps are.

    I can't see any mention of what CPU cooler you're using but generally, if your temps are above the guides in the following list by more than about 2c, you've likely got stuck sensors. Also if there is a large delay before the sensors indicate a temp rise when starting a stress test, that may be a further indication of DTS sensors that are stuck at idle. Measure the ambient room temp as accurately as you can, then add the number of degrees shown next to your method of cooling. Despite some who are die hard Zalman fans, the CNPS9xxx series really aren't high end air, even the top spec model. The new Zalman CPNS10 series are though.

    Looking good my man. I see that you took it upon yourself to even lowered your cpu pll down from 1.57 to 1.50v. Good man, because that was what I was going to suggest after you found your lowest vcore. If you are still going to try to tweak down your vcore from 1.275v, and you find that you get an error, try bumping your cpu pll back up to 1.57v. Again, going with my gut on this one as well. You might be able to get away with a vtt of 1.24v but I am not too sure.... Your gtl refs will change so you may have to tweak those again.

    1.275v for your cpu is pretty damn good, drones. The reason I say this is because the delta or deviation from the expected value from the regression model is pretty large. It is a testament to your great oc'ing abilities, brother.

    After tweaking your cpu vcore, you can either try to tweak down your mch core, or your ram. You may be able to drop your mch core a notch or two (1.20-1.22v) to reduce NB temps.

    After that, if you are so inclined, you have lots of room to tweak and improve your ram settings. Memory timings first, then memory voltages. You may have to mess with a combination of the main and secondary to get your desired results. I don't know the specs of your memory, but for the main memory timings, you may try 5-4-4-12. If your lucky, you might get 4-4-4-12. You are going to have to find the specs of your memory and figure out the ultimate secondary timings for yourself if you want. You then may want to drop your static tRead from 11 to 10. After that, you should have lots of room to drop your vdimm from 2.2v down to 1.90-1.92v +-. Again, it depends on your memory. When you drop your vdimm, your dram termination, channel ref's and mch/dram ref should scale down to 50% of your vdimm.

    After that, you are pretty much done. A cool running, 4ghz machine, with low voltages all around. Due to your low temps, you might even be able to reduce your fan speeds from your hsf to quiet your system a bit. A good balanced performance system that is mindful of its carbon footprint.

    Hi Folks,

    Sorry for the delay in my reply, I haven't abandoned this thread... been busy with work and business trips and the like :)

    I had a look at the stuck sensors issue, Psycho101: I tried moving the PC to another room (ambient was around 19.5 degrees C) and reducing the clock down to 6x 333Mhz (with 1.1 vcore), and the sensors still read 32 degrees (given your suggestion, I guess it should be ~28 degrees ish). I have a Titan Fenrir (TTC-NK85TZ) heatsink, set to low speed.

    What I did notice when I did a quick stress-test using the above config is that the temperature suddenly jumped from 32 degrees to around 38 degrees after starting the test (I don't know what that means really!)


    Oh yes BoombasticSloth thanks for your reply and your suggestions. I will definitely look into them later this week.
