Default RAM recommendations for P35-DSR3 rev 1.0

Right now I have 2x1gigs of some Patriot memory I put in when I built this system. Looking to go from XP to Windows 7 and bump up the ram. I figured why not just fill it up with the full 8 gigs since ram is fairly cheap. But what ram to use? What works without much problem? 800 or 1066?

8GB of ram often has to run at less than the rated speeds for 2x2GB setups.
1066 memory can often run at 900 - 1000+ speeds, sometimes at 1066MHz.
8GB is overkill, unless you have specific applications that demand more than 4GB.
I don't know what you consider as "fairly cheap", as I recently priced high quality 2x2GB of ram and found that these kits averaged about $100 per kit.

100 for 4 gigs of ram is not bad in my book. Probably paid more for a single stick of 128 meg back in the day.

Mainly just looking for some Ram that is known to work in this board at the full 8gig spec and at advertised speeds. Not planning any overclocking.
