    Default Gigabyte MA-785gt high/low density DDR3?

    hi guys,
with ram on the increase, i have been tempted to buying the less expensive DDR3 only to find out it is high density ram. one guy at Crucial assured me that now days it did not matter, and that it would work fine on the new system i am building, centered on the Gigabyte MA-785GT-UD3H board.
I need more info and thought i would ask you guys. feel free to express your opinions, as i do take them seriously. there is not much info out there regarding this.
    thanks

Yes, I think it does not matter at all on newer boards, this was mainly a concern back in the day on older chipsets.

I see 17 compatible parts listed on their site for your board >>>

thanks for the link, good info. the pair i was looking at was the CT12864BA1339, it had a M8FF at the end of it and the guy at crucial told me the 8 told him it was high density and that there were 8 chips, single sided ram.
    appreciate the info.

If it is on the list then they have tested it to be compatible, so I am sure you would be fine using it

that particular one was but it did not have the M8ff at the end, as he indicated to me there were different versions of that stick, this is what is confusing at times, all the coding. as with cpus, sometimes it matters like in the case of the old xp1700 processors, just because it was an xp1700, you wanted the B version, not the A, and a certain week as i remember.....
perhaps that is a poor example but you know what i mean...
    thanks for your help..
oh, while i have you, maybe you could tell me, it is better to have chips on both sides or just one.. or does it matter at all. in recent builds all my sticks have been double sided...

Ya, they do use some strange coding on their products too which makes it worse. Ya, I know what you mean.

I think as he said, either would be fine for this board. Ram densities do not matter as much today as they used to.

As for Dual side vs single sided, that all depends on the IC's used and what you personally want to use the memory for. Some Dual may be better, some may be worse, some single may be best for some occasions and not so great for others.

Which exact board do you have, and I will check for you in your manual, but most all of the newer models support SS or DS sticks

    thanks,
i am doing a search for single sided vs double sided ram... kinda interesting, quite a few forums on the subject but a whole bunch of speculation.. heat being one of them, chipsets another....if i find something of solid interest i will post it...
