I've got the F10 bios release. Waddayathink?

And while I'm on the subject, when I unzipped it, there were some other files with it:

autoexec.bat (wow, haven't seen that in a while)
    FLASHPI.exe
and the bios file, itself, P45UD3LR.F10

I don't think I've encountered that before when downloading a bios update from Gigabyte. Got any idea what they're for?

The batch file is "flashspi P45UD3LR.F10". Some kind of DOS bios install utility suppose.

Yes those for flashing from DOS, it's the standard package when u load from GB site.

Probably a good idea to flash the new BIOS since you experiancing problems.

    Yeap ^^

All you need is the .Fxx BIOS file if you are flashing with Qflash, which I do suggest.

OK then. I've used Qflash before with no problems so maybe this evening.
If I want to drop the ram speed back to 800, what settings do I have to get to that? I'd rather have stable ram at 800 than quirky ram at 1066.

Well if you are using 333 FSB then you need to set the System Memory Multiplier to 2.40B for 800Mhz. If you are using a different FSB then I need to know before I could say what you should choose.

After you flash and load optimized and run through that process it should be set at 800 by default anyway most likely so you may not need to change it.

I flashed to F10. Optimized defaults set FSB to 333 (per CPUZ and as reported in the BIOS). But the Memory Frequency is still set at 1066. The Optimized Defaults settings for the ram timing was 5-7-7-24. I changed that to 5-5-5-15 per Corsair spec. In fact, I went through all the recommended settings as above and set them. I'll make a new list and report it shortly.

In F10, the Legacy USB Storage Detect is gone, no longer listed as an option. So now I'm a little worried about flashing the BIOS in the future as I don't have a floppy and have always used a USB drive to do it. I thought that that function was necessary to flash the bios from a USB drive.

Before I did this, wifey was at the box and it had three BSOD's in less than 30 minutes - variety of causes shown.

I'm going to reboot and right down the BIOS settings, then run some Memtest86+. I'll be back.

Does memory still default to 1066 with XMP disabled(optimized defaults set it to auto)?

This is totaly odd, it should default to 800.
Maybe an overnight CMOS clear with a jumper on CLR_CMOS and the battery out will fix that, have you tried it already?
See second part of this post (Clearing the CMOS)
