    Default GA-EP45-UD3R + Q6600 Overclocking Help

Hi guys, Im new at this forum but longtime reader. I just lurked into the forums and wham a Gigabyte section with lots and lots of cool info, great job!

So I got this setup waiting for a decent OC:

    Q6600 G0 w/ TRUE 120
    GA-EP45-UD3R
    4GB GSKILL DDR2 1006 Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-8500CL6D-4GBNQ - Desktop Memory

I've been trying small stuff for now, yesterday I tried putting on a 400 FSB with x8 multiplier, the ram on 2.66D, 6-6-6-18. Also the ram voltage on 2.1v.

Everything else I left on default.

I started using IntelBurnTest for stability testing and failed after a couple of runs. Realtemp for temps and its 39-42C idle and 69-73C on load.

Any pointers ? Should I start fooling around with cpu voltage ?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Read this post.
Please post a screen capture of EasyTune->Tuner->Advanced->Voltage tab, and fill your forum signature with your system specs including a link to ram specs/

Looks alrigh. This is for 400FSB? Voltages (other than references) set manually?
Temps are a bit high, what thermal compound do you use? How many case fans do you have installed?

EDIT: what is the CPU stepping?

My room is a bit on the warm side, and I use AS5 and 2 case fans 1600 RPM.

    Its a G0.

I set up everything from the link you posted btw.

Vcore is default VID or have you raised it already?
So far so good. You haven't had to increase CPU Termination or MCH Core.
Use at least 2GB ram for 10 passes IBT test, and an 8+ hours of Prime95/Orthos blend torture, then couple hours Small FFT if you like.
If you want to tune the memory for this FSB, try setting lower Static tRead Value, currently set to 13 by auto (Performance Level in MemSet). One above the one that won't let you boot should be OK. Likely it will be 8 with CAS 6 timings.

Ok so that didnt even go thru the standard Intel Burn Test, so I went back down to 333 x 9 and it did the first pass. This is with 3.20B on the RAM.

With default Vcore Im not going over 65C .

So what could be going wrong for 400 fsb ? More vcore or ram tweaks ?
