Unhappy First time here-GA EP35-DS3 Help

    Hi Folks,

This is my first time to this forum and new to the world of overclocking.

Apart from the Gigabyte MB described above I have:-
    DDR2 4096 Mbytes
    Nvidia 9800GX2 Card
    Intel 2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.5 GHz.
    24" ASUS HDMI monitor
    Antec900 Tower case
Thermaltake 750watt toughpower power supply and 4 fans
Seagate 500g 32M cache SATA HDD

I am wanting to know if I can overclock my PC and if so to what speed.

A bit of background I have just upgraded to Windows 7 Professional and all seems fine, but whe I tried to reinstall the Gigabyte overclocking software it would not run, is seemed like it was going to run but then nothing happened.

Can someone help me to get to first base in overclocking, I have Crysis which runs fine under Windows 7 but only in a relatively small window, I would to see it run in a bigger format.

I hope I have given enough info to work with.

    Thanks in advance
    Recnal

To best help you, we need detailed information. You'll make it much easier for us if you add a detailed hardware list to your forum signature.
This post has basic recommendations for a stock setup (no overclock).
Follow steps 1 - 4 to post your current information.
Use the P35 generic bios template to fill in your current bios settings.
Ignore the settings in the template and post your current settings.

Did you load Optimized bios settings before making any bios changes?

    Thanks for your reply.

Not sure about how much I should overclock as I am new to all of this overclocking business. I just feel overclocking might help me run Crysis better, like in a bigger screen format.

I had my machine built for gaming 2 years ago but have never oclocked it, I was hoping you people could give me advise on what to do.

I am not trying to run my PC to the outer limits, just improve performance.

PS Crysis is the only game I have that can't run full screen.

    1) Highlight (select) all the text in the bios template.
    2) Copy the text [ctrl] + c
    3) Paste the copied text [ctrl] + p into a standard text editing program like Notepad.
    4) Fill in the copied template with the current values from your bios settings.
    5) Save your current bios settings as a TXT file. Do NOT save your file as a formatted word processing file.
    6) Copy the text and paste it into the forum's message reply box.
    7) Highlight the pasted bios settings info and press the "#" icon (Wrap Code Tags Around Selected Text); this will create a scrollable window for your bios settings.

You can add any other information in your post before or after the bios settings, and you can include one picture per post if you're uploading a picture directly from your computer.

    Hardware List In Your Signature
Please add the following information to your hardware list:
    Brand/model of cpu heatsink/fan setup
Motherboard Rev # [from the lower left rear corner of your motherboard]
    Bios version
Ram model # and external link to the full Corsair memory specifications

Step #4 from this post shows useful information from your system and lets us better help you.

Your system can probably overclock to 3.30 - 3.50GHz with proper bios settings and extended stability testing.

**edit** With your P35 mobo, the information displayed by EasyTune5 Advanced Mode will provide useful information.
