Default problem with ga-p55-ud5 and a power supply

Hi there. I just upgraded my old p45 system with a ga-p55-ud5 motherboard, i7 860 and 2x2 gb kingston 1333 value ram. All the other components on the system remained the same so i know that they are working properly.

The problem is that when i try to boot the system there's no beeps from the pc speaker and nothing shows on the screen. The cpu and system fans start spinning normally and there's a blue led on near the cpu. This happens when i use corsair's tx850w power supply.

I had an older power supply lying around so i decided to try that instead. It's antec's truepower 2.0 550w and the system boots normally using that one.

I have tested the corsair power supply with the old asus p45 motherboard and it works just fine and it should be more than enough to power the new system too(considering the 550w is able to do that and that one only has a 4pin atx(eps) connector).

Is there anything i can try to get the motherboard working with the corsair power supply or do i just take the mb back to the store and demand a new one.

Thanks in advance for all the replies.

Just updated the bios to f5i but that had no effect. I've never ran into a psu incompatibility problem before. Is it a common problem nowadays and if it is there should be some kind of a compatibility list available like there is for memory and cpu.

yes there should be a list on gigabytes website,it seems funny that it works with one psu and not the other therefore it can only be the psu...it could be faulty even tho it works in another pc

It turned out the psu was indeed faulty and i got it exchanged on warranty at the store and now everything works great with the new unit. Thanks for the help.
