Thread: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 issues

    Default Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 issues

I just recently got this motherboard along with a Core i7 950 and I'm having some issues.

Everytime I set my RAM to 1600Mhz, which is the native speed of my RAM, the next time I turn on my computer it will fail to post and it will revert back to 1066Mhz. And yes, I'm using the XMP profile, should I manually set it myself or what? And how do I make this problem go away? My RAM runs at 1.5V voltage and I don't want to set it higher, because I had a similar problem with this with my P45 setup when overclocked, but this time my X58 I didn't even overclock anything.

Also, my motherboard is making a buzzing, squealing noise and it gets annoying. I tried disabling CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) through the BIOS like some people suggested but the problem is still persisting. I doubt its my power supply or video card because I've used it with my P45 setup and I had no problems with buzzing/squealing noises.

Thanks, I tried what you posted but none of it worked. The motherboard keeps going to a reboot loop and reverts back to 1066Mhz and as for the noise, still there.

    what bios are you using?

i had the same problem(1866Mhz Corsair Dominator GT) with the F9 Series bioses, when i had any f9 series bios my PC, it would only post @ 1066Mhz

But with F8 Series bios my system boots run @ 1866Mhz using XMP and Manual

Yes, set your ram manually. You will need to try a few QPI/Vtt volts until you find one high enough, this is normally what XMP can get incorrectly which causes failures.

You may need to disable C1E and EIST, this only correct that noise if it is actually caused by your board though and not your PSU or GFX Card

You may need 1.4+ for 1866, it all depends. See my post here, some XMP programming for 1866 modules are even 1.5-1.6
