UPDATEThis function is only adjustable in bios with some cpu's. The set feature will be skipped on some cpu's and is performed only on the initial boot. This is false, This feature is adjustable in bios on all cpu's that this motherboard supports. MISTAKE I am sorry

okay guys, so far i have narrow down the problem into "slot 2 & slot 4 doesn't post". slot 1 & slot 3 works fine, with 1 ram or 2 rams.

and the 2 solutions offered are :
    1. do a dqs training on slot 2 & slot 4
    2. clearing the CMOS

i have set the bios to perform dqs and tested ram no.1 on slot 2 for 1 hours and 6 minutes. still the same thing, blank sreen and vga OHP led blinking.
honestly, i don't feel confortable leaving the cpu at this state for hours...
(i haven't heard of anyone doing a dqs training more then 11 minutes)

i'm planning to do a dqs training for each sticks on slot 2 & slot 4 only. one at a time.
i dont think dqs training is needed for slot 1 & slot 3, couse they are working fine for over 2 months now.
is this the right way to do it ?

so, what do you guys suggest i should do next ?
    > try 2 hours of dqs training ?
    > overnight (~7 hours) dqs training ? it wont damage anything would it ?
    > clear the cmos ? (completly, no shortcuts)

a few more questions (not really new, just haven't answred yet) :
1.do you think that slot 2 & slot 4 are defect ? or is there a setting in the bios that could effect them to function or not ?
    2. how long is tooo long, for a dqs training ? is 7 hours (overnight) really necessary ?
    3. after clearing the cmos, would the rams work normally ? or do i still have to performe a dqs training ?

here's a quick background check on my build, hope you guys notice something i overlooked :
the current ocz kit is the 4'th kit that i used on the pc.
    the 1'st and 2'nd kit was a patriot pdc34g1333llk.
it works fine in single channel mode only.
the 2'nd kit i got after switching it at the store i brought it, couse it didn't post in dual channel mode, either in slot 1+2 or slot 3+4.
while using the 2'nd kit, someone advice me to raise the trfc to 160 on all slots and trc to 42. and amazingly it works in dual channel mode, in slot 3+4.
i forgot how long it lasted, not more then a week i guess. i played a 3d game for days and suddenly the pc restarts
and after that, it won't do dual channel mode anymore, either in slot 1+2 or slot 3+4...
then the patriot guys told me that i should get a pdc34g1333llka instead, it's an amd edition of the same ram.
but local store doesn't has it, so i upgraded to the ocz kit, which is an amd edition. so it should work right ?
well, that's how i got here

i'm starting to think the board or the cmos was f***ed by the store guys/technician before i got it.
the plastic bag was already opened when i got it, they say it's becouse they just wanna check everything is there and the waranty starts at the day i purchased it (early september).
that's why i'm planning go back to the store again an demand and explanation.
but before i start pointing fingers, i wanna make sure that the board is really defect.

First I would request an RMA for the motherboard to Gigabyte. You already returned the memory and tried another brand of memory. All the memory modules you tried had the same issue with dual channel. Plus you flashed your BIOS and tried multiple memory setups, and other suggestions. I believe it is the motherboard. You may want to send Gigabyte as much information as possible with the motherboard. Let them know all of what you did to confirm it is the motherboard. I would send them a copy of all the procedures I used in the diagnosis print them from the Forums. They can't get to much information on it. I believe if the motherboard is the problem Gigabyte will get it repaired or replaced. When I removed the motherboard for shipping I would examine the PCB board closely for any cracks or damage too before shipping it. I would pay extra close attention to the 4 corners and the memory area. This would eliminate the possibility of it being the Motherboard. That's just what I would do.

RMA the board... that would be the last option

but before that, i wanna make sure that the board is really defect. couse i still find it strange that only slot 2 & slot 4 that doesn't post.

will do a 7 hour DQS training tonight. or should i completly clear the cmos first and then do the 7 hour DQS training ? what do you guys think ?

Thanks for the update artdrivers! I just wondered for future advising.

Ya, sounds to me like slots 2+4 are bad possibly. Do they work one by one or in single channel? If so, then they are not faulty though

like i posted earlier, incase you missed it :

ok, i've just done a more complete test, and the result :
    > stick no.1 in slot 1 or slot 3 = post
    > stick no.2 in slot 1 or slot 3 = post
    > stick no.1 in slot 2 or slot 4 = doesn't post
    > stick no.2 in slot 2 or slot 4 = doesn't post
    > stick no.1 & stick no.2 in slot 1 & slot 3 = post (this is what i use, works fine, so far)
    > stick no.2 & stick no.1 in slot 1 & slot 3 = post
    > stick no.1 & stick no.2 in slot 2 & slot 4 = doesn't post
    > stick no.2 & stick no.1 in slot 2 & slot 4 = doesn't post
    > stick no.1 & stick no.2 in slot 1 & slot 2 = doesn't post
    > stick no.1 & stick no.2 in slot 3 & slot 4 = doesn't post
    slot 2 and 4 doesn't post.
i've tried both stick, switch places, one by one, both at once. still doesn't post
but slot 1 and 3 works fine.
i've tried both stick, switch places, one by one, both at once. still post

btw, should i do a 7 hour DQS training first, or should i completly clear the cmos first and then do the 7 hour DQS training ? what do you guys think ?

Ya then sounds to me like you need to RMA the board as slots 2+4 are likely faulty. I would go ahead and link them to this thread when you submit for RMA, that way they can see all the testing you have done.

Let us know how that goes, but honestly it is looking like that is what you need to do

i'm gonna clear the cmos 1'st, then do the 7 hours DQS training (if needed).

then tomorow i'll start making calls

I highly doubt it should take 7 hours, but it would not hurt anything to let it run that long. It would just be idle whatever it is doing when it is in that state you are seeing.

Let me know if you need any info on contacting Gigabyte

well, it turns out that the processor was defect. i tested the mobo with an AMD Athlon II X2 245. now slot 2 and slot 4 is bootable.

so i RMA the processor, and now it's working fine, in default bios setting (1066, auto, 1.5v).

but i can't go to windows when i change the setting on bios into 1333mhz, 9-9-9-20, 1.65v. the computer restarts before it can load windows.

i think, it must be something in the bios settings. so please, tell me the the recommended bios setting for the OCZ3G1333LVAM4GK + GA-MA790XT-UD4P.
