Look in the event viewer what BSOD/crash codes you have.
Check BIOS HWMonitor for applied DRAM Voltage, and please post the exact memory model/part number.

its 2133mhz ram running at 1333mhz? if its random blue screening esp in games its probably not enough qpi/vtt voltage,1.1v wont be enough imo even at 1333mhz with 8gb,i would set to 1.2v in bios and retest with gaming

Thanks for the quick response. I know the BSOD code is alway 124, which is a hardware fault.
The event IDs in the event viewer are 41 (Kernel Power Event), followed by 6008 (previous shutdown was unexpected), 1001 (computer has rebooted from a bugcheck), and 1101 (audit events have been dropped by the transport).

The applied RAM voltage in hardware monitor and bios is 1.584V. The RAM part no is F3-17600CL7D-4GBPIS.

Thanks also for the quick response. Yes, its 2200 RAM running at 1333. From what I have read the core i-5 cpu will limit the RAM (which was designed for core i-7 processors) to the slower speed. I will try upping the voltage, as you suggested and post back.

just change these to raise ram speed,it wont limit anything

System Memory Multiplier (SPD)...........[Auto] change to manual
Memory Frequency (MHz)................1333 change to 8x which should give you 1600mhz

and as for error 124 bsod, its not enough qpi/vtt voltage for the integrated memory controller inside the cpu

bsod error 101 if you ever get it means not enough cpu voltage

i had random bsod's with the same mb for over a year ...........took a suggestion from this forum, raised dram to 1.66V, qpi/vtt to 1.21, seems to have done the job for me !........

OK I have raised the qpi/vtt to 1.2, as you suggested and played 30 30-mins without crash, but will test further. As far as the spd goes, I tried changing the multiplier to 8x and the resulting speed is 1066. If I change it to auto or 10x, the speed is 1333.

is 10x the highest it will go? wasnt sure on that board,my x58 goes to 12x so 12x133 = 1596mhz

if your max memory multi is only 10x you have to oc the cpu by raising the bclk slightly from 133 to 160 which will let you use 10x160=1600mhz memory and cpu would run at 3.36ghz thats assuming your using a 21x160 cpu bclk

but play with that later, try and get your current clock settings/memory stable first

ok, thx for the info. I will try that once I'm happy its stable.

Well, it has been 3 hours without crash (after upping the voltage, as you suggested), so hopefully this has solved the issue! thanks to all for your big brains and saving me the effort and expense of upgrading for no reason! You guys rock bigtime!!

P55 memory multiplier limit is set by the CPU, some have 6-12 (LynnField) and others only have 6-10 (Clarkdale i3/i5, depends on model), so to use higher than 1333 on i5-750 you must overclock the Bclk
