Unhappy P55 UD4P regular BSOD and reboot when gaming

Hey guys
I bought a new PC a few weeks ago, which I built myself:
Gigabyte P55 UD4P
Geil 2GB DDR3 2000MHz ram x 4 (total of 8GB) running at 9,9,9,28 as per their instructions and 1.66V
Intel i5 750
ATI Radeon 4870x2
Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic
1 x Corsair 128GB SSD Drive
1 x Patriot 128GB SSD Drive
2 x WD 500GB SATA drives in RAID0 for storage
1 x TinyTwin USB Dual HDTV tuner dongle
ACER 24 and Samsung 22 monitors
Windows 7 Ultimate Edition
800W PSU tested and is working fine

I set it up and she ran perfectly for 3 days, not a single crash. So I then followed the bit-tech overclocking guide here:
bit-tech.net | Feature - Overclocking Intel's Core i5 750

I stuck to the voltages they recommended, and managed to get an overclock of 3.8GHz with a vcore of 1.4V.
All was fine for a couple of weeks... and then it started to get less stable. And then about a week ago, stability went out the window. I’ve now resorted to running everything at stock speeds, and it’s still crashing every 30 minutes or so if I game (it’s much more stable at the desktop).
Here’s what I’ve done to resolve the issue:
1.) Swapped out CPU with an i7 – still crashing
2.) Monitored CPU temps – stay at 45C and still crashing
3.) Swapped out video card with GTX 275 – still crashing
4.) Set all BIOS options to fail safe defaults – still crashing
5.) Ran the SiSoft Sandra burn-in test – passed

The crashes are random blue screen errors, often irql_not_less_or_equal, but also often other things. Looking at my event log, the PC seemed fine until the 11th, and then it’s been crash city ever since. Thing is, I can’t remember doing any major changes to it on that date.

I’m at a loss – I’ve got a feeling the motherboard has died, but would like to try other options before having to rebuild my PC. Any ideas?

Fail Safe is not an option, please start over using the latest BIOS and loading optimized defaults not fail safe.

Sounds to me like you are not setting your memory correctly. After you have done the above please get a template from my signature and give us your settings you are using

I'll get you that info tomorrow. I'm not sure why you'd say I've set up the memory incorrectly when:

a) I've followed the exact memory settings as specified on the sticker on the RAM (9,9,9,28)
b) I've disabled all high performance memory settings
c) the PC ran fine for 2 weeks without crashing, and then started crashing

Still, I'll get that info for you tomorrow.

There is a LOT more to ram settings then just those 4 main timings, many other settings have direct effect on memory performance or stability.

I didn't mean it like you are directly setting things wrong, I just meant with 8GB at high speeds or not you are going to need to set several things manually and tweak and test things until you find the right combination. Auto or "Plug and play" is not going to work with this type of a setup, overclocking, and this generation of chipsets

I await your settings, then I can try to help get you going in a stable direction

I've attached my BIOS settings, this is after setting everything to Optimised Defaults then manually changing a few RAM settings.

from those settings try putting cpu voltage to "normal" setting in the bios, keep ram voltage on 1.66 in bios and set qpi to 1.30000,try setting ram timings on auto and make a note of what bios sets it too, also see if your stable with auto timings

I have done as you suggested, when setting memory to auto it defaults to:

CAS Latency Time: 7
tRCD 7
tRP 7
tRAS 24

Note that the stick on the RAM says it should be run at 9,9,9,28. Am about to try some games now to see if it continues to crash.
