idk, i think im done with this. all i really wanted to do was get my ram in sync which it is. all this tweaking as me tweaking!

im afraid all this stress testing is gonna break something, and i dont have the cash to buy a new processor right now

Well it would be fine as long as temps are good, which they are. So you can continue to tweak all you like and be fine, if you want of course.

i just frustrates me with it failing after two runs all the time.

There must be a solution somewhere soon.

I'd keep tweaking and see what you can do. For 2 runs even setting 1.4V Vcore would be OK, along with the VTT and refs that gave the best results. That should rule out Vcore as an issue. It may also be that if no BIOS settings work, your CPU is at its limit. Q8200's are commonly seen OC'd from 3GHz-3.5GHz, so maybe yours falls just short of the middle ground.

Even at your current 3.2GHz, you have a great and fast CPU. It's certainly much bettr than having it at 2.33GHz. an 870MHz overclock for free is a significant and noticeable jump.

What ever you decide, definitely don't worry about breaking anything. You won't do any damage at all with just 2 runs, even if temps are excessive. high temp IBT can possibly kill components, but it's high run sustained punishment that does the damage, ie you can do 100 runs as 50 separate tests of 2 runs, over a corse of a couple of days with 0% chance of component death. doing 100 runs at excessive temps all in one go is a different matter and I would consider that dangerous/risky.

based on the data ive posted prior, what vtt and cpu ref and mch ref do you think are the best?

The ones you were using in post number 53 look to be the best. One can always tell when you're near to correct in IBT because temps get high (as they should be) and GFlops match what is expected for the current clock speed. ~41-42 GFlops is exactly how speedy your CPU should be at 3.2GHz.

Ok, so you think vtt of 1.22, with more vcore?

and what about Refs? keep on auto?

Not sure about refs. What ever you had them set to in post 53 is definitely the best config judging by the IBT results.

If more VCore doesn't work, go back to those RAM settings that were stable before, the ones where you were slightly under clocking. IBT is primarily a CPU stresser but RAM matters too. Go back to the 2.00 multi and looser timings (set all advanced timings to auto, manually set primary ones and put in a tRead of 11 to start with). This is useful to basically isolate the CPu to see if that alone is the source of the failure or not.
