    also if you go for win7 ultimate it has xp mode built in so no need to have dual boot with win7/xp...im thinking of using it

    That or use Vmware or Virtual PC (Free from Microsoft) to run XP in.

    I do this in Vmware to test various things from time to time and don't miss dual booting a bit :)

    i officially can't do xp mode with my e7300 ,on top of that, the one thing that keeps me from going full win 7 64 is pro tools 7, which won't run in win 7 at all, unlike the newest version 8. it's also dependent on hardware which isn't win 7 compatible yet (nevermind, i doubt avid/digidesign will make pt 7 win 7 compatible, at least not until they finish with x64 for both pc and mac and fix the issue with ie8 stopping 7 and 8 from starting)

    plus i don't think i would run xp mode or virtualization for serious audio work and business anyways.

    I see what you mean, sounds like you may be better off sticking with Vista for a while then actually. I still use it myself, and actually plan to skip windows 7 altogether
