Default New i5/Gigabyte/ATi 5770 system crashes every time I play a game

    Hello folks

A couple of weeks back I decided it was time to get a new PC. Admitedly I am in no way an expert so I had a friend help pick out and assemble the parts, which are as follows:

Gigabyte GA-P55-US3L P55 Socket 1156 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard
    2x Kingston DDR3 2GB 1333MHz i5 Memory Module CL9 1.5V
    Intel Core i5 750
XFX HD 5770 1GB DDR5 DUAL DVI DISPLAYPORT HDMI PCI-E Graphics Card
    Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB SATAII
Pioneer 22x DVD±RW DL & RAM SATA Black Drive
    Antec EarthWatts 650W PSU
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

We set everything up and at first things seemed to be working as expected, however on the second day of use problems began to occur and have persisted ever since.
The system began to crash whilst running game software (Fallout 3 and Dawn of War 2). Both games would run fine for up to an hour, at which point the display would cut out, leaving a completely black or grey screen, or multicoloured horizontal lines. Its worth noting that this happened completely at random, one hour is about the most time I got out of them. The audio continued, but the system stopped responding and I was forced to reboot. Internal temps were checked from the BIOS menu and at most were around 37 degrees, so it was obviously not a heat issue.
On rare occasion this also happened on the desktop with the same results. There was also a problem with all on-screen mouse graphics becoming enlarged, usually a precursor to a crash.

Thinking this was a graphical problem, I waited a week or so for the incoming ATI Catalyst update (version 8.671.0.0) which I believe is the current driver.
While this did not exactly solve any problems, it did change its nature slighlty. Instead of outright crashing, the system would occasionally quit from a game on crash and tell me that the display driver had stopped responding but had recovered. Once or twice I was able to alt+tab from Dawn of War on screen glitch, then go back in and continue my game untill the problem reared its ugly head again.
Another issue became apparent at this point. I was unable to reliably watch video on the machine. Seemingly at random, the screen would go completely black as before. However the desktop would reappear piece by piece , only to cut away again. System speed took a nosedive here and in the end I either had to be patient enough to initiate a shut down, or hit reset.

Around this point it was brought to my attention that there may be compatability issues between the mobo and graphics card I had installed and that there was a BIOS update incoming that was supposed to set things right.
In the meantime I installed the F2 BIOS version using the @BIOS program, which seemed to solve the pointer resizing, Windows crash and video problems, however the game crashes still remained.
A week or so ago, the F3 version of the BIOS was released so I decided to try it out. If anything its made gaming worse. While playing Dawn of War, about five minute in the screen cut to black for a split second then returned to game. For some reason the on-screen cursor was now two on-screen cusors, with one slightly off centre. Other than that the game still ran fine. After another five minutes or so, the screen cut out as with previous crashes, however on this occasion a blue screen followed. I was unable to make out any text as the system rebooted right afterwards.

Following this, the display driver had "stopped repsonding and managed to recover" once while streaming some video. I have not bothered attempting to play anything since.

I am completely out of ideas, as is the guy who helped build the machine. If you've taken the time to read all this and can offer any help I appreciate it. If you want any more information please ask, I shall do my utmost to provide.

    Thank you for the reply.

The existing drivers were removed prior to installing a new Driver.
Seems that there was a new chipset Driver, which I have installed.

Sorry to ask, but exactly how do I find these voltage values?
All I can see in BIOS is DRAM, which is 1.584 if it helps.

Edit: Tested after the new Chipset drivers were installed. Problems still persist.

if you look in easytune under tuner/advance/voltage one it will tell you your voltages...normally ram voltage is set to 1.66 in bios

im asuming your at stock cpu clocks,so i would raise the qpi to 1.2000 and set ram to 1.66 voltage and see if its any better also whats your rams rated timings? it should tell you on the packaging that came with ram something like 7-7-7-24

The packaging that came with the RAM leaves much to be desired. Ebuyer (where I purchased it) doesn't really have any information other than latency timing is CL9.
Even the official Kingston website has nothing other than "The SPD is programmed to JEDEC standard latency 1333Mhz timing of 9-9-9 at 1.5V."

The mobo is a P55 US3L. This one here.

Just tried running Dawn of War 2 again with the altered voltages.

Unfortunately the outcome was the same.
