Check out some of my settings used in my DDR3 reviews linked in my signature, you will see even some high QPI used at lower ram speed too.
well, now setting to vtt to 1.25, mem.enh to turbo, pch=1.120 didr *not help.
    first boot ok,
then doing a reboot: nogo. red hdd led burning, fan stands still, all phase leds on.

    pressing reset dont help.
turning off with switch in front and restart, dont help.
i do this severeal times (switch in front) and then it will run again....!?!.
    without any (stability) problems.

now trying little more vtt: 1.27

    well, ram's running not that high: 700/1400 with 8-8-8-22, 84 -t1 ...

i forgot to say, my used powersupply:

its an silverpower: sp-600A2C, 600w, until now it worked very well.
my last CPU was an i7 920 /GA-DS4 with this Powersupply
    and it worked fine.

my system (cpu+graphic card) is water cooled.

graphic card is an NV gtx-260/896mbyte

Ahh ok, well at that speed/timings you should be ok with 1.2-1.25 I would think, maybe less.

What PCH are you using now, and Ram is it at 1.66?

That PSU should be fine. Why did you move from X58 to P55??? That's a step backwards really.

as i wrote, now running vtt1.27, pch1.120, rams at 1.66 and still testing it.

well, CPU (generation) is the same.
only the memory controller (it's the *same*generation) has been cut down to 2channels,
but the differences are very low, take a look at your self:

    memory, classic bench (syntactically):

    MaxxPI² - TOP10 - Memory

memory, classic bench (real based), here is an appreciable difference:

    MaxxPI² - TOP10 - Memory overall

note: please dont forget: this results above 10-12 GB/sec are extremly high (tripplechannel), normally they reach about <10gb/sec.

looking at CPU/NPU performance, it's the same. the +4HT cores do only
help on highly Specialized Applications like maxxpi is,
    but anyway look at yourself:

    MIPS/GHz:

    MaxxPI² - Mips scaleability

    FLOPS/GHz:

    MaxxPI² - Flops scaleability

in real live, you dont see any difference at all (both on 4ghz)

but!: now system consumes at idle: -12w and under load: -68w

    best

None of that convinces me any at all, do you have any direct comparisons one one pc vs another? Chipset makes a lot of difference as well as how the memory settings are used and applied.

I do see what you mean though, but it is a step backwards really especially since you had already shelled out the money for X58 and if you sold that board wont be able to take advantage of the upcoming i9 either.

that's surprising me. *all results that you see there
are direct comparisons one one pc vs another.

    for example:
    MaxxPI² - TOP10 - Memory

    chapter, DDR3 tripple channel:
top10 showing the same bench on different systems/HW/settings
    but all DDR3 + Tripple-channel

sure, exactly you will see this there.

it sold it luckly for the same money (mboard/CPU)
    everthing else i still use.

yes, for the upcomming i9 i will look. evanually i will change again.

I don't see anything showing like that, maybe I misread it all though. I'll have another look here shortly

    well, ok.

    but back to topic:

for now it seems to be running right, with:

    vtt1.27, pch1.120, rams at 1.66
several bootattempts was all going right.

i will look at this settings the next few days. hopefully its solved
    now, thank you Lsdmeasap
