p45 ud3p 1.6 fb stable but fd fails or is it just my ocz incompatibility?!? This guy has problems uniquely similar to mine. I'm starting to think this ocz brand is just not that great. JR P45 driving me crazy!

No, I was just asking if you looked up either/both before making a purchase.

I see in newegg reviews several people say they work fine in this board (2 out of 14), UD3P Sorted results >>
    Customer Reviews Of OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2RPR10664GK - Retail

They are not on the Gigabyte QVL though, but that means nothing, nor are they listed as compatible at OCZ's site. But those comments make me think they should be fine if they are not faulty. Can you test them in another machine?

Yea, I sent in rebates for ga-ep45-ud3p and the ocz ram. got rushed to postmark it before expiring. I thought this problem would fix itself eventually. unfortunately this is the only board i have that can run 1066.

So far i can only get stable with fb but just gonna run with it, its ok. I will keep you guys updated with my overclocking results.

    fwiw, i bought Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ - Desktop Memory to see if it was just the ocz memory.

I used BIOS VER: FDa with 8gb of ram (4x2gb) mch 1.100, turbo pf=7. It was 48hrs memtestv86+ v2.11 and orthos blend 48 hrs stable. This picture I took a picture early and then a couple more later. This is latest picture that i can find. I know I have later pictures but its in my raid 0 array somewhere, but there is no way im gonna plug them in if and get them corrupted

I had to return the ram because i thought my motherboard was faulty, but its not. I have no need for 8gb+. Next 4 days price of ram jumps from 63w/ shipping to 80+. bought ocz ram at 69w/ shipping now its 115.

So back from september ive never had an error running ram at 800mhz even at extreme, not turbo, and not standard, its set at extreme. Should have kept the 8gb setup huh?

If you have good luck with Fb, then stick with it, no need to update really unless there is something you need that is in the new BIOS.

That or get different memory. 8GB (And or 8GB at 1066) is no way to test things though, so you should have kept that ram and tested by itself. Ya, DDR2 has jumped a lot in price lately!

Na, 8GB is not suggested at all unless you actually NEED the 8GB, otherwise stick with 4Gb that works.

Was there some fix or addition in Fd BIOS that you need?

been there and done it so many times. had to rma my first kit. so i bought 4gb so there would be no downtime. then when i got the new ram in the mail, i tried 8gb to see what it was like. just sayin some people have had problems running 8gb, but i managed to get 1066 2x2gb ocz and 800 2x2gb gskill ram working together no voltage increase. its not my motherboard memory slots, not the cpu, not the intel p45 chipset, not my os install - its the same one that i got 48hr orthos blend/prime95 without crashing, probably not psu.

what changes happened between fb and fc/fd? it got worse.

    Not sure?

Why do you not want to keep using Fb, I mean if there is something you like in Fd I may be able to help?

already using it. just wanted to test other bioses to see how high i can overclock. oh yea slot 1&3 doesn't work dual channel. and the cause is not faulty ram.

The past 72hrs has been pretty busy, here's the laydown on things..

Prime95 crashed at about 13hrs+. I was extremely lucky to take a cap just right when it failed. Why 13?!? it does not make things easy.

Below are The settings that i used that were not stable. I had to run prime95 again just to make sure. The ram at 5-7-7-20 cr2 are very conservative. It failed again at about 5hrs, i probably needed more vmch. i needed around 1.24-1.28v mch. Then i ran into problems. With fb and 1066mhz. The most i could set is 1.20v, as i get over 1.20v prime95 would crash sooner. over 1.28v and 1.360v the motherboard would reboot 3 times and say the settings failed.

This time i have SFF80D 80mm 3000rpm running full12v mounted on the hr-05. The temps don't even get to climb past 98 degrees Fahrenheit/ 36.6 Celsius. There must be something else why i can't even get to boot/run memtest86+v4.00 with v1.30 - 1.36v. Bios fc,fd,fda doesn't have this problem from what i remember.

With ddr800 running prime95 blend as load. MCH temp.>>

    1.240______G 96.8F 36.0C
    1.340______G 99.0F 37.2C
    1.360______G 99.3F 37.3C

Edit: I can run 1066 on fb but i can't have high vdimm(2.100) and mch greater than 1.200v at the same time. I can set 1.280v-1.320v on 1.920v, but 1.920v is too low for 1066.
