    hi people,

i purchased the x58a-UD7 last weekend with i7 930 CPU.
    I have 6gb kit (3x2gb) ddr3 1600 G.Skill-NQ.

ever since i have put this together, ever morning the first boot fails with BSOD or wants launch repair wizard.

I guess you call this cold boot failure?

Once the first boot fails and reboots, it loads windows normally and can see the whole 6gb ram. It can then be rebooted over and over though the day with no problem or errors. It is only after a period of time when i have shutdown for say 4-5 hours (or overnight) and then i try to boot the errors occur.

I have breifly seen some peoples comments about cold boot failure on UD7 but dont have an answer for my problem.

I do not overclock and everything is standard so it is confusing the heck out of me.

I would really appreciate your knowledge/experience to help out. So frustrated to spend good $$$ and not have the machine stable.

    Thanks in advance.

I upgraded the Bios last night from the latest version off the Gigabyte site (F6 i beleive) which made no difference. I then from this forum site flashed to F7h.

    Bios version = x58a-ud7 F7h

    Not using XMP - [Disabled]
    CPU Clock Ratio = [21 x]
    CPU Frequency = 2.80GHZ (133x21)
    qpi clock ratio = Auto
qpi link speed = 4.8GHz (non adjustable)

    Advanced DRAM Features:

    Performance Enhance = [Standard]
    X.M.P = [Disabled]
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) = [auto]
    Memory Freqency (Mhz) = 1066
DRAM timing selectable (SPD) = [auto]
    Profile DDR Voltage = 1.5V
    Profile QPI Voltage = 1.2V

    Load-Line Calibration = [standard]
    CPU Vcore 1.23750v = [auto]
    QPI/Vtt Voltage 1.200v = [auto]
    IOH Core 1.100v = [auto
    DRAM Voltage 1.500v = [auto]

Is this what you were after.

    Thank you.

there is 2 ways to fix your ram setting one is to enable XMP
the other is to set it manualy
    Performance Enhance = [Standard]
    X.M.P = [profile 1]
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) = [12]
    Memory Freqency (Mhz) = 1600
DRAM timing selectable (SPD) = [auto]
    Profile DDR Voltage = 1.64V
    Profile QPI Voltage = 1.2V

    Thanks Judge-dredd,

so you think my issue is memory related and this would fix it?

Ok, so i have taken your lead and made the changes in bios.

The only difference is where you said "Profile DDR Voltage = 1.64V" the bios showed as "Profile DDR Voltage = 1.5V"
    ??

    Is that OK?

Did a boot and can see from the post screen memory is showing as 1600Mhz now rather than the old 1066Mhz.

I will have to wait until tomorrow morning when i switch the machine back on and see if this memory change was the root cause of my cold boot failure pain.

Did you see any other issues from the specs aside from the memory Judge-dredd? OR anyone?
I just want a stable running machine which doesnt give me BSOD :)

    QPI/Vtt Voltage 1.200v = [auto]try with anything from 1.2-1.3v
qpi clock ratio = Auto<-- set this to twice what your ram multiplier is then add one to it so 8xram will be 17x uncore freq ect
also one or two clicks on ioh core voltage will help with crossfire, not needed if its not causing problems
as for ram try with 1.64 first if no improvement put back to rams rated voltage but it should be fine
