Did you take any images of your socket? Often people do not see, or miss bent/misaligned pins?

So if you do look again please take some pictures and post here, in the mean time try these settings and see if it helps.

Ohh hey, before I post settings let me tell you how to flash your backup chip so both BIOSes support the 980X so you dont run into issues later on again.

When booting up the system press "ALT + F12" keys, when you normally hit "Delete" to enter the BIOS. Then on the IRQ screen as windows starts to load you will see DMI Message, then it will start to recover/flash MAIN BIOS to the BACKUP BIOS.

Then when it is done restart your machine and both BIOS will match, which you can verify in the BIOS on the MAIN Screen by pressing F9

Can you provide a link to your exact memory please, thanks.

What cooler are you using, and do you plan to stay at stock speeds?

    Hi Lsdmeasap,

    Thank you for your help.

I've examined the socket very closely with a magnifying glass and I am fairly certain there are no bent or misaligned pins.

I tried the bios settings you provided but unfortunately the have not remedied the pre-post loops.

    Thanks for your time.

    Cheers,

Fairly certain doesn't sound to convincing :)

Can you post me some images of your socket, from a few angles in macro mode.

Boot loops, do you mean at stock settings or an overclock? If you are overclocked this is normal, C1 2-3 times depending on the overclock

I would say 99.8% sure no bent pins but I'll take some pics tomorrow :)

No overclock...need to get the system working before i even think about going there

    Yes, please do!

I have seen several pics where people swore there was no bent pins and I found several, so it's best to have someone look if you are not sure.

Also, be sure your backplate is not causing any shorts, and also the front where the heatsink touches the mounting holes as well.

No worries, i'll post them up tomorrow.

I'm using the stock intel HSF, i was using a mega shadow but now the system is running on a desk with the stock intel attached.

K, well at least with the stock cooler you rule out shorts I mentioned.

Do you have other memory you can borrow to test with, in case it is a partially faulty or incompatible set?

    Hi guys,
I have just purchased an overclocked bundle that includes this MB, 6Gb of Patriot Viper RAM and a Prolimatech Meghalems cooler. My problem is that the RAM is quite tall and stopping me from inserting a fan on the 'Push side' so I currently have a fan pulling. I want to know if fiting a couple of Yate Loon D12SM slim fans would be sufficient?
Alternatively a different cooler that would prevent this problem!!
    Thanks.

it should fit if youve installed the ram in the white slots,i think it only blocks the first blue ram slot, other heatsinks which are close to performance are the thermalright ultra 120

I agree, did you actually try it or just look and guess/gauge?

Since the memory is in the white slots it should fit, but if not yes you can use a slim fan on the push side, just make sure the pull fan is stronger than the push.

Or, you could also maybe dremmel or cut down the sides/corners of the fans you are trying to use, if it is just barely not fitting I mean.
