Default Bios Template Wanted for GA-EP45-UD3P Rev 1.6 @FD [Lsdmeasap]

Hi, I havn't posted in a while but I got some new hardware and would like to see how far I can get this Q9550 with my new mobo. Please check my current system profile in my signature.

Lsdmeasap, I'd like to request an optimal BIOS template for my Q9550 @ 3.6 Ghz on this UD3P.

    Thank you sir. :~]

Anyone have advice on a BIOS template for the wanted speed and setup?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no ideal BIOS template I can give you. All CPU's are different and they can all need different voltages etc at certain clock speeds.

Start by posting your current template. From this you can then tweak certain things. If you already have 3.4GHz stable then it's better to build upon that than to start again from scratch.

The usual rules of OCing then apply. Increase Vcore by a decent amount and then up the FSB by ~20-30MHz and test stability. Keep going like this, bearing in mind that MCH Core, CPU Termaination, PLL CPU and MCH Reference etc may also need adjusting as you increase the speed. Do all this while keeping your RAM at or under its rated speed. Also slacken Static tRead (in Advanced RAM options) to a reasonable value while OCing, then tighten (-lower-) it later. Use 10-11 to start on both channels.

If you're not into the slowly and cautiously approach then you can set a safe guess at what voltages will get you to 4GHz. For example, set Manual rated timings for your RAM and a Static tRead value of 11 on each channel along with a 1066 Driving Strength, also on each channel. Set Vcore to 1.3625V with LLC on, set CPU Termination to 1.3V, PLL to 1.59V, CPU and MCH Termination both on auto, MCH Core to 1.24V and VDIMM to the maximum rated setting for your RAM kit. Now do about 3-4 quick runs of Intel Burn Test. If it passes you can carry on and test over night with Prime95 on the Blend setting. If it fails IBT or even fails to boot, you need to adjust voltages/timings. Start by usng more MCH Core, up to 1.36V. If it doesn't help, reset it to 1.24V and try more CPU Termination. If that does not completely work, keep the most stable CPU Termination voltage and increase Vcore.

Check posts by Conners and Acebmxer .ud3p and q9550

Even if their memory isnt the same i think theyve replied on OCZ queries with that setup.

Thanks for the response guys. With this current configuration I am IBT & Prime95 stable. I did 12 hours of Prime95 Blend (w/ round off error-checking) and had no errors or cores fail. I have also done Large and Small FFT's for a longer duration, with no problems. Surprisingly, I haven't had to increase the Northbridge MCH voltage from the stock 1.1v. I've seen BIOS templates where 1.24-1.26 is recommended for those using 2x2GB modules, but I seem to be getting stability at stock.

I am unsure if it is worth the tradeoff in heat + vcore to reach 3.6 to 3.8 with this Q9550, but I will soon find out. I'd like to be able to reach a higher clock without having to raise vcore on my mobo's northbridge.

One huge problem I have that I need to mention before I forget - Everytime I turn off my system, and unplug the AC cord from my power supply to do any work in my case, upon replugging and powering back on the system I lose both my onboard Gigabit LAN. If I boot to Windows 7 or Windows XP both of my dual gigabit LAN ports will not show up. They won't show up in control panel or by performing ipconfig via the command prompt.

The only way to solve the mentioned problem is to load optimized defaults, save & exit, then wait for the power off and power back on. From this point I can boot into either OS and regain my networking. Usually after loading optimized defaults and the power off / power on, I load my BIOS profile for this current overclock (3.4 Ghz). So, basically, I have to go through 2 power off and 2 power on cycles everytime I unplug my power supply... kind of annoying!

    Anyone else have this issue?
