When i switch from 2 channel speakers to 5.1 or 7.1 , it gets reduced .

Anyways, i believe it was Wazza who asked about it before. Can anybody give some suggestions on eliminating this ? I have done a few searches and haven't found anything very useful.

As always, any suggestions are greatly appreciated . Thanks !

My opinion, the Xonar DX and Klipsch are a well made match. cost effective quality . nuff said.

When the time comes , assuming the Xonar holds up to the beating i intend on giving it, i will move to a home theater speaker setup with one of the higher end Xonar's, if not the Creative.

You could as Wazza says try disabling unused inputs and outputs. Going back a while, one of the first sound cards I used had a terrible hiss, unless I muted the microphone imput.

By "good quality" speakers, I was refering to the way that the Xonar continues to scale as the quality of the output equipment goes up. Those Klipsch are great speakers, but my meaning was that with a set of 500 speakers, the sound quality will go up and be noticable, then upgrading to a set of 2500 speakers will see another noticeable increase in sound quality. The Creative however didn't really scale with the quality of equipment I used. The Creative card was quite disappointing when used with a borrowed set of Grado GS1000i headphones (wooden air chaimbers, 800/$1300) but the Xonar kept on revealing more of the sound stage to a point where you hear things in songs and movie scores that you've never heard before. Simply amazing.

If anyone asks me what souldcard to get it varies depending on the usage. For gaming I still believe the X-Fi Fatal1ty are the best around, giving better FPS (5-6FPS more in some games than the Xonar) and are the only cards that can do EAX 5.0 and do it very well.

For a multi purpose PC, or HTPC and even audio editing/music addicts then the Xonar wins. The Creative cards have never been strong with music, but the Xonar are purpose built for this, especially in conjunction with the analogue outputs. The DX is virtually as good, with a few compromises made component wise due to costing. As you have found out, the only slight negative is the lack of shielding.

dbee hope you no i was picking with that said i thought about getting one at one time myself

but i have allwayed had creative card so i stuck with them
the Creative X-Fi Elite Pro is probly the best card there is i used it for many years now

but its draw back for me is its PCI when upgrading to the X58 motherboard i had to make changes

if gigabyte would have left them bottom slot a PCI i would have been ok instead its a PICE 8
but they had to put the PCI in the middle so those of us that use SLI had to make changes

I have to have a good sound card with suround sound
