    Smile Should I Update My BIOS? Help Please..

    Ladies and Gentlemen...

    Im new here and would like to know what you guys think. I have a Q6600 and x38-ds4 F1 and OCZ Memory and would like to know if you have had better stabilty with the updated BIOS, because for the life of me I cant get it stable at 3.6GHz..

    Maybe this is just to be but I hope not.

    Am I just too wishfull ?

    You can try the latest BIOS if you like. It may help.

    Remember that not all Q6600's are capable of 3.6GHz.

    More information on what you have tested stability with, how long before the program(s) report an error etc is needed really before anyone can advise more. One thing I would do though is probably loose the CPU clock skew, unless you have tested that it is absolutely needed. You may also need to use a little more Vcore. 1.5V is the Intel limit but as long as your temps are within range, 1.55V or maybe a little more should be OK to try. It's then up to you to decide if the speed increase is worth the extra voltage you need and the heat produced.

    One important thing you need to do right away is to re-enable Thermal Monitor 2! This does not effect the success of your over clocking. It is the mechanism that shuts down the CPU and PC if it gets to dangerous temps. This feature should never, ever be disabled.
